my problem with season 1 was how repetitive the arcs got. Buildup/development -> combat -> mourning for the dead -> repeat. Everything else was easily the best gundam-ass-gundam show I've seen outside of unicorn. Honestly think it was on the level, if not better than 08th MS.

I've been finding pacing problems with S2 since everything is going super fast with like 5 concurrent factions all having their own stakes, but whatever.

Most people seem to be gravitating to him getting the Helmwige which just got announced.

Considering it's theorised in the lore that there are only 9 Valkyrja frames it stands to reason it falls into a bracket that only a select few would know about from an age when the 72 Gundam frames were produced as well.

Those girls were in a man's "harem" for their protection from scenarios the boys in Tekkadan are brought into. Pretty sure the issue of the Valkyrie frame was one of balance; if you look at how McGillis uses the Grimgerde, he's always rotating around a center-point. The frames shouldn't necessarily be weak for any particular reason. That said, Rustal Ellion is the Space King, so I'm guessing the Helmwiges is a purely Zero-G suit; that would explain away the giant sword, bulky armor, and bonus verniers.

The flashback of Mika meeting Atra actually has her say she was willing to work for CGS and Mika replying that they only hire boys.

Whether the baker lady would have taken a boy in (assuming there was some other reason dude-Atra couldn't work for CGS) depends on the baker lady's largely undefined personality. We know she felt bad for Atra and took her in, and that's pretty much all we know about her.

That said, it's kind of unreasonable to assume that a peace-time setting would not allow any other jobs for boys than mercenary work. It's not that demand for soldiers was so high that every boy had to do it, it's just that the economy was shit and jobs were scarce all around. Mercenary work has that unique characteristic of high fatality rate meaning they're almost always hiring (especially for the "disposable cannon fodder" and the job requirements for "diversionary cannon fodder" are pretty low so pretty much anyone can get hired.

Because all we'd known about it up until now was it's base "without color" prototype for several months. The alternative to nothing is the gaudy overt tacky pink fan color some precognitive /m/ poster made a while back. And many just do not like the idea of a pink Gundam.

Least the Aegis wasn't a literal spoiler like Flauros' color scheme turned out to be in the end and they didn't try their best to hide it from the fans.

/m/'s distaste for it might soften the more we see of it when it debut's fully in a December episode. If this week proved anything, it's that you can easily build hype for a forthcoming model kit from a poorly animated scene dedicated to the merchandise, so anything is possible yet.

Unfortunately, I don't think you can skip any of it and still understand the internal referencing. Like, skip the Dort arc, easily the worst part, and you miss Kudelia deciding to not be so utterly worthless, Fumitan's death, and that whole thing with Biscuit's family. Not to mention Gjallarhorn being actual bad-guys for once. Plotwise, and in terms of world-development, these are reasonably significant things, I'm afraid.

Best thing you can do is power through them on a marathon.
