Hathaway if we are giving any thought to Hathaways Flash was a great pilot, bordering on some of the other newtype aces of the conflicts beforehand. Katz was at best a medicore pilot, not awful, but nothing special at all.

As a person, one was actively endangering his comrades and allies over a girl who had some feelings for him, but was more in love with a sociopath. The other was an emotionally unstable and was chasing after a girl who frankly kind of despised him, even going as a far to shoot Chan after she saved him from being killed by Quesses antics.

All in all, Katz was a twat, but he had the best intentions with his actions. Hathaways is mentally sick terrorist who was killing innocents to appease a ghost that honestly could not have given any less of damn about him. Hell, right before Hathaway is executed, her ghost comes back to him just to inform him she never loved him in the first place.
