I can't remember the last time we had a Guyver thread.
Anyone know where to read volume 30 and onward without having to give money to jews?
>>
Where do I start with Guyver?

Manga is only translated by autists and you do actually have to pay for it. Two anime series IIRC, 2006-ish one is I think closer to the manga but neither it nor the old one are 100% accurate (I think, 2006 might be close enough to just jump into the manga). I would start with the 2006 adaption to see if you like it.
>>
>>14968977
maybe someone put more volumes on that torrent that is in kickass torre-FUCK.
well, i think your best course of action now will be searching for the raws and learn japanese
or learn russian, iirc there a are people translating guyver in that language too
>>

>>14969410
While 2005 is good and closer to the manga, the original OVA is amazing for the first half (Eps 1-6) and a good gateway that covers the bulk of the Chronos Japan arc
>>
>>14970946
true but it changed some stuff namely the hyper zoanoid five appearing sooner
golden zxtole and the final fight was rad though
makes me wonder how they could have handled aptom adquiring its powers had they keep doing the ovas after ep 12
>>
>>14968977
You're just gonna have to either learn Japanese and import them or learn Chinese and read their scanlations.
>>
Anyone know where to find raws? I'd rather translate it myself than deal with uppity translators.

What's everyone's opinion on the american Live Action movies?
1st one was shit, but I found the second one to be an entertaining B-Movie. Also has the best looking suits I have ever seen in a live action setting.

The entire series up until the end of book 29 are available online at some free manga sites.

Just start there.

Though the 2005 TV series does some things slightly better, and adds some extra side material stuff into the plot... it also misses out on some things. But if just want to use the 2005 tv series, it ends with the first chapter of volume 10 of the manga... Which is the first appearance of this guy.

Those "uppity" translators also post all the raws as they are released, so just in case someone else wants a crack at them.

So far only 1 person has ever tried, and they quit after 2 chapters ( especially when the second chapter was not a high quality raw and people here still shit all over it.)

Whether or not the upload sites still carry them is the question.

>1st one was shit

I'm afraid I just can't agree with that.

Rat bastard fangroup ruined everything

They wanted to support the creator but who the fuck is going to read the manga without the translations being uploaded publicly!?
>>
>>14974765
>They wanted to support the creator

They don't. That's just a guise to make money off their scanlations, if they really wanted to support the creator they would've never included the option to just pay them upfront instead of giving proof you imported the manga.

Regardless of them acting the "just" way they do, his actions have literally killed the Guyver fandom.
>>
>>14974765
>>14974776
Yeah don't you have to order them from a very specific site too?

Meaning they most likely get money for directing sales, and are most likely not actually helping to support the creator at all.
>>
>>14971745
honestly surprised we haven't seen another attempt at an American adaptation

I thought Hayter had plans for a third movie (which would have introduced the Gigantic), but they fell though.

Do people honestly really care about the series anymore?

I would really like to see the translated bios for Guyver-Aption and of the enoucnters of Aptom and the female Guyver II.

By "ruined everything" you mean translating 21 volumes of manga (08-29), other supplemental materials, and providing a forum for Guyver fans to discuss new chapters/information?

I'm no fan of the system they have in place now (which is still better than what they had before), but really, they still have done more than anyone for Guyver Fandom.

You just want free shit without acknowledging any of the work that has been done, or without actually being part of "The Fandom".

>>14974776

Thankfully that system left with the old owner of the forum... it certainly was not well done.

>>14975432

Takaya has killed his own fanbase with erratic and slow releases. The only reason people are starting to care again is because of new more popular merchandise ( figures).

The 2005 TV series failure was the proof that people do not care about a 30 year old ongoing series.

There is a small group of English speaking "Guyver fans" and they have all gathered into one space.

>>14975461

No, they were never that involved. It literally was the "Honest-fag" ideal of supporting a creator.
>>
>>14976616
you're 100% right, but personally I'd still buy an official manga release. Since that is clearly not happening, I wish the scanlation team would provide their work easier. But that's just me (I'm not the one you were arguing with, btw).

When was the last volume released in japan? Does Takaya even care about finishing it eventually?

Speaking of merchandise, I'm dying for a Guyver III figma.

If you buy the official manga release, and show them you own it, you get the translated book... Though if you're talking about an "Official English" release, yeah that is not likely to happen.

The last volume release in Japan was Volume 32, released February this year... And he also did 2 more new monthly chapters (last in april) before the current hiatus. In an interview in book 32 he mentioned that he is very aware of the need to finish the book, and we know from a news post that he was looking for an assistant... but no actual news as to what the cause of this current hiatus is, as it seemed unplanned.

Could be because of merchandise... But hard to say. I mean we have:

Figma Guyver 2 Female Manga and movie ver (shipping now!)
Figma Guyver 3 (non color proto-type)

Prime 1 Studios has CG proto-types of a bunch of statues (and one so far sculpted)

Sanken Studio's is making 1/6 scale Guyver figures... And started with the Gigantics... but have shown others...

K-Soul has made some chibi Guyver figures, and is making a Guyver 3 statue...

So far, only the figma's are confirmed to be official... but I am sure prime 1 Studios wouldn't go so far without a license... and I think K-Soul and Sanken are Chinese studios, so who knows... either way, Lots of expensive Guyver stuff coming.

1st movie: I had fun watching Luke Skywalker slowly transform into a giant bug.

2nd movie: The fight scenes were a lot better. I just can't unhear Solid Snake's voice throughout the film.

Prime 1 Studio's Guyver 0 standing on a T-Rex head ( inspired by events of book 15).

Sadly, for any of their proposed statues, we've only seen feet of the Guyver involved...

Guyver's just a dollar store version of Devilman, anyway.

the only thing i could compare guyver with devilman isthe moment chronos attacked the world's major nations and conquered the planet in a day

at least sho managed to save his waifu unlike certain other
though i'm scared that the author will kill her someday
>>
>>14977964
thanks for all the info. Yeah, I'd support an english release, but it's not going to happen indeed.

I'm not really into SD figures but I must confess those chibi guyver with LED are really cool. I'd buy a couple. Frankly all I'm waiting is for amiami or HLJ to sell that kind of stuff...ebay sellers have proven to be unreliable to me.

>You just want free shit without acknowledging any of the work that has been done, or without actually being part of "The Fandom".
That's not the way it works.

What' they're doing doesn't equal to properly licensing the manga. Plenty of other manga and works never get localized and quess what? They make money thanks to merchandise, games, figures, etc. But of course if they don't see that the series has enough exposure those will ever come out, so yes, in part it's Takaya's awful release schedule fault (And this is a common issue, just look at Togashi and Miura) but this "group" is also at fault, yes being self entitled is bad, it's nice that they're trying to do something in a different way but they're still alienating and killing the fanbase.
A forum to discuss Guyver? What Guyver? The one people have to pay for to figure out what's happening? A forum with little to no people because of the previously mentioned issue about spreading the fanbase too thin? They do everything but make the fanbase larger, this is elitism. That small group in that forum will always stay that way, if they don't mind then more power to them I guess.

This. Also, David Hayter can't act for shit. Movie is fun though.

Adding to what other people said, when it comes to media like manga, most of the profit it receives is thanks to merchandise. So how are you even going to sell the merchandise when you're making it too hard for people to get into it?
One could argue that we are not the target but a bunch of media being released over there even comes with official English subs now.

I was a Guyver far for the longest time, since the 90's thanks to the anime movie/ova or whatever it was (Yes, Guyver II's tentacle porn scene left me scarred for a while when I wasn't even on my teens), I bought the retardedly over priced Max Factory figures, most of them at least, but then I started to care less and less because of the release schedule and then one day, Advocacy decided to become a secret club. It's sad, I get why they're doing this, but I also disagree about it being the right way to do it. So yeah, for all intents and purposes Guyver is dead, it's sad. I'm sure that the only thing keeping the fandom of similar franchises alive (Berserk) is the free scanlations, and for better or worse the result of that was the latest 3D anime, and then some Figmas, not to mention official releases by Dark Horse.

tl;dr If it isn't officially licensed here, them coming off as some sort of shady middleman is ruining things even more, but I'm also not self entitled enough to demand them to do what they're doing for free, as much as a tease it was for them to release stuff for free for years... and then it was locked to their online manga reader... and finally plain "secret club"
