Watch it! I can understand if it is not everyone's cup of tea. 4 young pretty boys that want to end war by being terrorists is a pretty out there concept. It is the people aboard the Ptolemaos that made the show a proper space opera for me. Masked man was less than ideal, and the film was very unorthodox. Otherwise the show exists in my top 10 Gundam series based on the characters alone. I really hope you like it!

As I would normally say whenever someone asks this, it's best you didn't ask first and instead watched first and then asked. By asking, you'll gather opinions on both sides of the spectrum but you yourself won't have any way to know how true or false everyone else's opinions are. The best way to enjoy some things in by going in blind. I say go watch the whole thing or at least the first season. If you liked it, then watch the second season. If you're still good for the movie then watch that too. Afterwards, come back here and go through what everyone has said and see for yourself whether or not you agree. I'm sure you'll have something to say by then.
Okay, so that aside, here is my opinion on 00: It's okay, I liked it. It has the wing gimmick and plays with it by adding some G Gundam here and there. The first season was better than the second for a variety of reasons that you'll find out for yourself. I haven't watched the movie (I aim to get to it eventually) so I can't say anything about it aside from hearsay. Out of everything in the show, I like the concept of the tech itself because the Gundams run on hyper-efficient Solar engines (right now we just have panels and a storage for the energy).

one of the bad guys is voiced by the lead of the original gundam series and there's a few gags based on it but that's about it
