I vaguely recall reading something about Ishinomori's passing before an attempt to unify his hero stuff had motivated Matsumoto to try doing it on all his space stuff until Nishizaki got out of prison and he had to abort on Yamato stuff at least.
This is vaguely relevant because there was speculation back then that the music videos might tie into Yamato since blue space people.

Evil organization on Earth has been going through the galaxy to alien worlds to steal their musical talent then bring them back to Earth. After editing their memories, altering their appearance, and fabricating an entire band they send them forth to make the Big Corporation tons of money. All famous musical talent were aliens; Jimi Hendrix, Elvis, Elton John, the pop groups and boy bands. The end was a bit confusing since the end game was to sacrifice the group to some evil power and the handlers would gain godlike powers or some shit.
