Venus Wars is pretty sweet. Battle Angel Alita was nice as well, though I don't know how well it will hold up.
Red Eyes is hilarious in its own way, it's kinda trashy but full of hilarious nationalism.

Then there's the Front Mission manga, which is okay if you can gt over the edgyness.

Pluto was also nice, yes. The old Astro Boy comics are still okay as children's comics. There's that new Boichi series about the Android trying to blend in while canibalizing the other androids trying to blend in.
