Last time on SRW GC Translation Thread: >>14922250
- We barely had time to chat with VF-kun about Endless Frontier EXCEED
- The compression seems BIOS-originated
- We're still going through the SRW anniversary year!
- We need to define whether this is the right place to follow on GC!!!
Stay with us. Chat. Why don't we discuss other translations here too?
I dunno why, but I'm feeling a little lonelmy, all of a sudden...
Assemble, warriors of light!
(Oh wait, wrong thread...)
How's the A Portable translation progressing?
>>14954046
yeah how is it
>>14954046
>>14954492
51% done already. Back can give more info though.
Bumping from page 8
I have no idea what happened to the last thread, I saw it on page 5 before going to bed and it had suddenly dropped off the board when I opened /m/ the next day
>>14955580
Yep, AP's going forward steadily. Our translator had to pause for IRL reasons for a week, but other than that everything's fine. I'd like to say it's a great piece of work, but I don't know if that wouldn't count as biased, even a little?
It is great. Honestly, I like even just reading the story our translator produces. It has a lot of jokes in it, and characters are really colorful. Of course the game is tough - but we all know how to cheat if we have to, so each of us will find what he / she wants.
There's also a person who was having fun trying to re-balance the game. That'd of course be subjective, so we can't include it in the translation, but I'd be happy to link to that work once it's done & available!
I haven't heard from the Arabic translator's work for some time. I hope he's doing good.
Rereading I see an ambiguity: our translator paused and resumed.
Hi guys, sorry I've been away for a while. I'd love to say I'm back with tons of updates, but the truth is I got a severe case "my gf is hooked to Final Fantasy X HD Remaster running on my laptop even though she's not of the gamer kind", so I'm enjoying a break for a while.
I'll try not to leave you people hanging for too long, but keep it up in the meantime.
>>14959285
Sounds like you need a second laptop! Isn'tit mandatory in the Declaration of Human Rights, nowadays? People are born equal in rights, and shall be given access to food, water, air and internet. Right?
I'm thinking of G-Gen bumping this thread...
>>14963780
Aw shit that looks so nice. How's the bets going?
>>14964477
Well it's best to tell you to head to https://gbatemp.net/threads/sd-gundam-g-generation-overworld-english-translation.369219/
My current take on it: a lot of effort is on-going. The game will be playable in English (with the exception of the encyclopaedia, for which they'd need a volunteer to handle the translation - it's a bit of a shame for a collect-them-all game, but the gameplay is available). It won't be as highly detailed / almost pro translation as I've been trying to do for AP (ex: no VWF currently) but it's a good access to an SD G-Generations game in not-broken English. (I haven't tried Genesis, but if OG:MD is any indication, it must be awfully translated...)
>>14966084
Whelp, thanks for the info.
Godspeed on your translation!
>>14966112
I'd like to correct one point... Genesis... People have started posting videos and it's ages above OG:MD. Great!!! (But why choose the worse of both teams for OG:MD, Bamco?)

Assembling!
Sorry, I've been busy with life on multiple fronts. I've been trying to catch up on everything, but it's taking a while.

I've watched that video for quite a bit, and I have to say it looks good. I'm going to order it...
>>14966234
Ha ha! Make sure you cure that one to the full, Oppai!
how's the translation for GC going?
>>14966144
I'm pretty sure bamco heavily underestimated the number of sales they'd get with english ogmd which would explain the terrible translation. But it seems they adjusted for genesis which gives me good hopes for V.
>>14970044
GC? What's that? Never heard of it.

>>14971148
Do we have any (reliable?) hint as to how well OG:MD sold?
>>14972428
It went out of stock for a bit, and the limited edition sold out instantly, so it at least sold more than they thought it would.

I have great news! I've finally figured out the "crazy Russian paper!" Why did it take this long to figure out? Because it was a load of bupkis.
>>14975046
>bupkis
Really... really? You mean pop corn's blown? The cream is thick? The chicken roasted? (Whadda ya mean, I'm hungry?!)
>>14975277
I mean it was goat shit! He made an improvement in degree, not a new breakthrough, and made it sound like it was a breakthrough. The annoying thing is, he proved something that everyone in that field already knew, but he was the only one that bothered to do it.
Short version: This field wants to find the exact bound on functions of different numbers of variables. Functions with 1-6 variables had already been solved for the exact upper bound, and that was extrapolated for the upper bound on functions with more variables. Crazy Russian guy's big breakthrough is that he changed one of the coefficients on the extrapolated upper bound from 30 to 29.
That should have been obvious, but no one could understand his paper.
>>14975933
>That should have been obvious, but no one could understand his paper.
Ah. Oh. OK. So... nothing GC-related, then?
>>14976305
Nope, Stuff about ESOP logic. That's the nitty gritty back-end of what I'm doing my PhD on. Quantum computing is the shiny front end.

Have we been going with Blue Falcon or Blue Hawk for Meio/Maillot? Because MX goes with Falcon.

>>14983025
Honestly, I can't remember what we went with, or if we ever came to a consensus on it. Personally, I think Blue Falcon sounds better, and it's worth noting that falcons are generally smaller and swifter than hawks, so that's something.
>>14972428
High sell through rate but the initial shipment and by extension overall sales was quite small, make what you will of that.
>>14983025
>>14983062
When in doubt, check on what the folks at /m/ Subs did for the show.
>>14983410
I think they're using Blue Falcon, too.
>>14983025
>>14983062
>>14985052
We had a consensus between GC and AP teams to use Blue Eagle of Giganos. Which we're consistently used on our side. I'll ask TheMajinZenki the reason for the choice, but it was pretty well argumented back in the days.
>>14985759
Woops. We've used "Blue Hawk", it seems, my bad.

How about a lil' main menu bump, then?

Overworld is looking good.
So, I got this sudden urge to do a Blaster Tekkaman Blade cosplay. Mostly because I want to give it shoulder pieces and forearm pieces that slide open and reveal Voltekkaspeakers.

Yeah, I pretty much like it. Here's some more!

SOON™?
Page nine bump. No real news from me. We had some snow. That's always a fun event. Especially when you live somewhere that gets snow about 2 times a year. Everyone panics.
>>15008809
How many cars out of the road?
>>15009110
Everything's back to normal now. Snow doesn't really stick here (except that one year that it stuck for a whole week!). However, everything really slowed down on Thursday. Schools closed, lots of people stayed home from work (or left early since the "storm" hit Thursday afternoon). Everything went back to normal on Friday afternoon, even through there were still some icy spots on less used roads. Today, it's raining and above freezing, so everything's cleared up.
Although I guess there actually was a bit of news. My lemon of a Vaio is on it's last legs, so I bought myself a new laptop as an early Christmas present. Of course, that means it comes with Windows Spyware preinstalled, and Asus doesn't have driver support for me to downgrade it to an older version of Windows. So, I've spent the past few days cleaning it up as best I can. I will give one piece of praise for Windows 10 (very grudgingly); the anniversary edition comes with "Fresh Start" which lets me restore Windows not to factory defaults (which includes all the bloatware), but to Windows OEM default. That lets me get rid of all the bloatware, as well as all the drivers.
After all that, I went a bit crazy with powershell and removed all the Windows apps that just clutter up my start menu, but can't actually be uninstalled the normal way because XBOX is apparently such an important part of Windows 10 that they can't allow you to uninstall it. I got the drivers installed again now, so I should be good, but I still need to do another runthrough and make sure I didn't miss anything.
Well guys?
>>15009211
Nicely done! I've been through the same paranoid / furious actions some time back. I thought of going the linux route for a stint, but it is really too technical for its own good... even now.

>>15017318
>All those Gundams and not a single MP Unit in sight...
Well, I have ton of them in reserves, but they'll only serve their purpose: increasing my percentage of units obtained!
To be honest, most units you get access to are... crap. Worth throwing away.
I found it an interesting twist that the few "base" units be able to combine to design so many different ones. (Ex: the Zaku.)

Err - what's that supposed to mean?
