I feel like the hate for Hirai is a result of SEED.
I mean after looking at his work myself his stuff isn't anymore "sameface" than 90% of the industry.
Plus show's often have characters go off model and you don't really notice until you study the line art.
His stuff for MJP has a way different look from anything else he's done, yet people still shit on that saying it's "sameface" for no reason other than to fit in
