Why the fuck did none of you /m/ongs never tell me about this?

it's fucking epic!

>Why the fuck did none of you /m/ongs never tell me about this?
Because you should watch it without someone else telling you to
>>
>>14943269
How the fuck am i meant to watch something I didn't know existed?
>>
>>14944283
Thats a riddle to ask /a/ and their fucking retarded MUH SPOONFEED rule
>>
>>14944283
If you didn't know it existed, you need to lurk more. It's probably time for you to look at some charts or AniDB.
>>
>>14944310
>>14944291
This series has literally never been mentioned in the decades i've been lurking. It was a random suggestion on an "anime you've never heard of" youtube video.
>>
>>14943106
Learn how double negative work, you are saying everyone told you about it.

>>14944359
There was a thread about it and who Tyler may or may not have fucked literally last month. Every so often I see people mention Tyler especially when the discussion of who are the best captains comes up. I haven't even been here that long and I've seen multiple mentions of Captain Tyler. Lurk harder.
>>
>>14944373
English isn't my first language friend
>>
>>14944383
Sorry ESL-kun, but maybe that's why you didn't notice mention of Captain Tyler. Look at the bright side, now you discovered a cool anime AND you learned about double negatives.
>>
>>14944383
I think there's a few dubs in other languages
>>
>>14944359
>New Fag Spotting 101

wew lad
>>
>>14944516
what, you didn't start back when this was "TV /m/-/z/" on Prodigy?
>>
>>14944291
Because it's a classic? Like Dirty Pair or Bubblegum Crisis.

Also, it's not epic. It's anticlimatic.
>>
>>14943106
>it's fucking epic!

becasue you're an idiot who says shit like EPIC
>>
>>14945075
>>
>>14943106
Ya-hey! Great show.
>>
>>14944550
Google classic anime and youll just get a bunch of toonami stuff. Cut him some slack, like I said this isn't /a/ - autism
>>
It's indeed classic and usually it is in every recommendation chart. Everyone loves it.

But I hated it. I hated Tylor for being dumb, I was annoyed when he acted like a retard and never got punished. I couldn't laugh when he was getting stupidly lucky. And it pissed me even more when it was revealed he was only pretending to be retarded.

Turns out I can enjoy dumb characters in comedies only if their stupidity doesn't harm/endanger others and doesn't create significant inconvenience for others. If someone is stupid he should suffer on his own.
>>
>>14946331

we hate you
>>
>>14946331
Tylors world doesn't run on Common Sense you retard it runs on Comfy
Bet you hate ZZ too
You remind me of people on Goodreads that hate books where the MC isnt a good guy and think its "bad writing"
>>
>>14946331
You're wrong about everything you believe in. It's not too late to change your ways.
>>
>>14943106
>epic
What is this, 2007?

Tylor was fun for the first half before it got really incredibly boring, it's like watching an old buddy cop movie with all the generic characters that go into making that (right down to the shouty figures of authority).
>>
>>14946468
Did you watch the OVAs?
>>
>>14946474

He doesn't seem angry so Ill guess no
>>
>>14946474
No, I've heard more than enough about how bad they are; the ending to the TV series left a sour enough taste in my mouth as it was.
>>
>>14946477
>>14946479
Yeah the OVAs ended on a cliffhanger, didn't it? That kind of messed things up. Who were those new bad guys? Is there any explanation anywhere?
Plus RIP Soyokaze.
>>
>>14946482

A pretty exciting one at that. Sadly I only really know second hand information from what people say about the novels.
>>
>>14946522
Do you know of anywhere to get a translation of those novels? My google-fu needs work.
>>
>>14947612
Same place as the Crest/banner of the Stars ones. Never translated, or the few that did exist disappeared years ago when megaupload or their old fan sites died.
Honestly, you might as well just try order Japanese copies.
>>
>>14947647
That sucks. Thanks anyway.
>>
One more pic as the thread dies.
>>
>>14946474
>>14946477
I've been stalling on those. Watched the first two or three but they didn't quite push my buttons like the main show. Ar they even worth finishing?
>>
>>14947713
There is some worth to them. Unfortunately they leave the show on pretty much a massive cliffhanger.
Also best girl didn't win.
>>
>>14947647
>megaupload or their old fan sites died
We even lost rips of rare old punk albums that way too, but the asshole governments dont care, the entertainment industry has that $$$
This kinda thing infuriates me
>>
>>14946482
>>14947647
What's with wacky intergalactic 90s space operas and no animated endings? This, Nadesico and Lost Universe all got that fate. Although considering how the Lost Universe novels apparently end, could be a mixed blessing.
>>
>>14947770
Lost Universe is made by the same guy who did Slayers, right?
>>
>>14947770
That's what happens when you make a sequel to a saturn game instead of to the anime.

Nice try, kiddo.

Could everyone stop arguing and just enjoy a drink and some Tylor?
Downtown Dance, everybody.

>best girl

Was it the princess? She should have won instead of the old battle-axe.
>>
>>14946331
>I hated Tylor for being dumb
What on earth made you think Tylor was dumb despite the fact that everything that transpired in the show did so according to his design? Tylor is a genius, appearing clueless is merely a ruse maybe.
>>
>>14951170
That's the neat thing about Tylor; we're never entirely sure whether he's actually competent or Clouseau levels of inept.
>>
>>14951174
>>14951170
Honestly, I felt like this line while they were in his mind showed he was a genius. Plus he was so damn perfect on act competent like a competent crew day.

Why not both?
>>
>>14951174
"But he couldn't have *meant* for that to happen...could he?" was pretty much the entire premise of the show, and it's to its credit that it is able to maintain that question for the entire run.

>>14951204
Yeah, I feel l like the truth is somewhere inbetween. My best guess is that he's not so much brilliantly intelligent as he is an incredibly sharp people person, since his acting in *just* such a way as to influence others in a certain manner seems to be an element of almost everything that happens.

Either that or he's a zen master who's reached that point where he's become so wise he's looped around to being easygoing and apparently foolish.

>Episode 23
>Ends a war without a single causality
>On Either side

I think we all just need to take a moment and admire the balls that took
>>
>>14951842
The way it was built up, episode 23 is one of the most perfect climaxes in the history of anime.
>>
>>14951842
>>14952108
You make that sound so much less ballsy than it actually was.

I mean, how DID he end the war?

By sailing to within literal spitting distance of the enemy flagship...and then saluting out the window at him. All to the William Tell overture.

What a guy.
>>
>>14954249
He was just lucky. Lucky that his opponent commanding the enemy forces was intelligent and respectable and intent on ending the war without useless loss of life as well.
>>
>>14954266
Yeah, probably.
OR WAS HE?!

MAYBE HE KNEW BEFOREHAND WHAT SORT OF PERSON THE ENEMY COMMANDER WAS, HAVING ENCOUNTERED HIM BEFORE.

MAYBE HE KNEW ALMOST NOBODY BUT THE WORST WARHAWKS ON EITHER SIDE REALLY WANTED A WAR AND WOULD GLADLY ACCEPT ANY PRETEXT TO END IT AS LONG AS THEY DIDN'T LOSE FACE.

AND MAYBE HE KNEW THE ENEMY COMMANDER WOULD HESITATE TO ACT IN RESPONSE TO HIS BOLD ADVANCE BECAUSE HE HAD SPENT THE ENTIRE SERIES ESTABLISHING HIMSELF A REPUTATION AS JUST THE SORT OF CRAZY COMMANDER WHO MIGHT PULL SOMETHING CRAZY ON SOMEONE WHO TRIED A TACTIC AS SIMPLE AS JUST SHOOTING THEM.
>>
>>14954297
I just meant that he was lucky that all the dice fell in the exact way to allow Dom to take command.
Unless it was all a plan he gave to Azalyn.
>>
The death of Admiral Hanner was an emotional episode. Loved it.
>>
>>14947827
Only time will tell as to whether or not that buckey is screwed.
