I have never wanted to have sex with an airplane more in my entire life.

All VF is sex.
>>14926613
>they decided to mass-produce Gamlin's F-117 knockoff instead of this sexy thing
I mean, well, at least we got its descendant in the VF-31, I just wish that it had been in a better series.
>>14926613
Okay so confession time from OP.
I love Macross. I love DYRL. I love love LOVE Macross Plus.
Totally bored with Macross 7 a couple episodes in. Can I skip to Zero and Frontier without losing much world building?
>>14926613
YF-21 is superior. A bit on the rough side but it takes care of you so well
>>14926691
Wait it out until ep.20
Also no
>>14926643
I agree, there really isn't a single Kawamori VF design I dislike.
Probably just my shit taste talking
But sometimes I wish macross didn't have the transforming in to robots gimmick and was a purely fighter pilot series
>>14926998
me too

>>they decided to mass-produce Gamlin's F-117 knockoff instead of this sexy thing
anon...they did mass produce it
>>14926998
My friend Gerwalk disagrees with you. I think he's German.
>>14926998
Macross Zero started with jets before going to valkyries didnt it?
>>14927050
Kann sein. Es klingt germanisch.
i feel u
>>14926691
Zero has literally nothing to do with 7, and Frontier only makes a few references to it. I really see no reason to waste your time watching something that you don't like if you really don't want to watch it.
>>14926988
I watched the whole thing and I was bored nearly all the way through. There are maybe 10 good episodes across the whole series. It didn't need to be 50 episodes long.
>>14926998
Delta removed as much Gerwalk as possible and... eh, it's a part of the charm, desu.
>>14926987
Good taste. Always loved its blend of Zentraedi and human design.
>>14927749
photoshoped
>>14928182
It was most battroid that was underused.
>>14926691
Yes. But you should stop where you are. Zero is ok but boring as shit. Frontier is the beginning of decadence.
>>14929191
>>14929191
Frontier is pretty good if you watch the movies.
>>14929545
>liking the movies more than the series
It had some serious budget pumped into it, but the characters in the series are far more engaging, which makes it a better watch. What they did to Brera and Michael was just fucking wrong.
>>14929567
Finally, someone who agrees with me.
I have no idea why people think the movie writing is better than the TV series.
So just how many people die in Macross? Is it really getting the Earth down to a population of less than one million? Or is it closer to 2/3 of the globe that was destroyed? The simple scale of the destruction always rubbed me the wrong way.
>>14931848
Everyone but the population of the Macross survived iirc.
Some people survived by being in underground bunkers and shit.
>>14931848
Only the people in bunkers and aboard Macross survived. They rebuilt over the following decades via procreating with Zentraedi and cloning.
They weren't kidding around with using an entire Zentraedi fleet to bombard Earth from orbit. With how many ships they had, it isn't hard to create an extinction level event.
>>14932447
>>14932460
Yeah, I mean, that's what I assumed, but wanted to make completely sure. So everybody in the series after SDF is descended from that couple hundred thousand onboard the Macross, huh? So like, Isamu's parents were probably on board the Macross, or he's literally cloned from one of the passengers? Just seems kind of... difficult, logistically, to have characters who are truly unique going forward who aren't just a rehash of a person who survived. If the population of the galaxy is a few billion after a couple centuries, it would be MILLIONS of clones of every single person from the Macross and their descendants, right? Wouldn't really be a lot of genetic diversity, even with manipulation.
Even if it was just the Macross passengers it would still be plausible.
>A 2005 study from Rutgers University theorized that the pre-1492 native population of the Americas are the descendants of only 70 individuals who crossed the land bridge between Asia and North America.[4]
>>14932667
Keep in mind, the human race used to number in only the few millions, in isolated spheres, as late as the era of the Roman Empire. They managed to procreate and diversify just fine despite events like the Black Death and WWII.
Genetic diversity only really becomes a problem when you're down to fucking your cousins, nieces or half-sisters.
>>14929606
It's literally shippers.
>>14932667
There was a lot of cloning going on for a while, until is started to become a genetic issue. There's a thing in Macross Frontier where you see characters having dopplegangers and resembling characters from past series. Its not really addressed, but its part of he mythos.
Also, a LOT of interbreeding between Zentraedi/Meltrandi and humans.
