Dumping all 15 pages of it here. Regardless of how you feel about him and his hot opinions, he really is one of us.
In this story, our MC is a pig-shaped man named Hans, and he is a German tank engineer who wishes to defect to the Allies and avoid capture by the incoming Russians. During his journey, he discovers a broken-down Panzer tank, and repairs it, bringing along an ever-growing collection of refugees - including Rosa, the heroine and love interest (Miyazaki's Heroine again), her grandmother, and her dog.
He really is a tank Otaku. It feels more like reading something from Shirow or FSS than typical Miyazaki.

End.
These comics were published in Model Graphix under the series "Daydream Notes" and always dealt with military weapons. Two of his movies were actually adapted straight from these comics- Porco Rosso and The Wind Rises.
Ah man, that was nice. Thanks, anon.

That was excellent, thank you. You should cross-post this to /k/

This La-7 is nice.

See, now this side of Miyazaki I'm cool with.
This comic is better than 90% of the movies he's made. There is no stupid forced message- everything feels natural and non-condescending. It flows nicely, has good characters, good pacing, and a solid ending.
The biggest irony of it all is that this is a WAR story, and it still feels more comfy than all of his movies.
Why didn't he make movies based on stuff like this, instead of trying so hard to push his political agenda?

Funny fact: those same two characters, Hans and the moustache officer, stars in one of miyazaki daydream notes stories. They are test pilots for the Tiger P.
Look alikes of the two characters also appears in other story of the same book where they are members of the crew of a Gotha heavy bomber in 1918.

He is a moralist old man, graduated in economics, and ex marxist; It is expected of him to try force some kind of message in his movies.
But, if memory serves me right, he really wanted to do some lighthearted movie about one of his military shorts stories, back in the 90's.
The idea of the story was about a pig tank commander wrecking havoc around in his super heavy tank, until he kidnap a girl and her boyfriend comes along to save her. But it seems that the idea have never comes foward.

Looks like a Ratte concept

I absolutely disagree on every level.
Anyway, check out his Tigers In The Mud if you liked this.

>I absolutely disagree on every level.
Only if you're a dense liberal fuck.

It has absolutely nothing to do with politics, and the fact that your only strategy is to toss that around means you're a dick.
I only care about anime.

Apart from this and Nausica, what are some other manga of his that are scanlated?
>>14925192
Tigers in the Mud, People of the Desert and
The Journey of Shuna, as far as I've read.

In reality, the name of that manga would be something like "Tigers covered in mud", as "Tigers in the Mud" is the name of Otto Carius book that originated it.
