Just finished watching this, compared to how shitty the last several months have been due to this fucking election it was actually pretty uplifting.

Very oddly for a Kobayashi show, it felt very topsy-turvy compared to her other works. It did a lot of the things she's usually good at (attention to detail, bait-and-switch cliches that reverse your expectations, grey morality zones, deep characters who develop over time, etc.), but at the same time it was oddly consistent in the details (shows like Den-O and Ryuki tossed consistency out the window in favor of characters) and also lacked an ending that provides closure (even in the case of Den-O with no real plot, at least it ended).

Honestly not sure what to think about it. It was short and sweet, and pretty fun to watch, but at the same time it also felt really different for a Kobayashi show. And not just because it catered to an adult audience rather than sell plastic toys. I don't know if they're planning on an Amazons season 2 or anything, but the opening sure as hell is there.

Not to get too far into capeshit, because I know /krg/ usually hates that, but I think it's kind of similar to how She-Hulk works. When she's normal, Jennifer Walters is her usual self, but when she becomes She-Hulk, her personality changes enough that she acts differently and even has different opinions, but is still technically herself for the most part.

Maybe Poppy and Asuna are kind of like that. Asuna is the normal serious human being while Poppy is the wacky uninhibited video game character. Actually, since she was originally a video game character to begin with, the normal human side would be the new personality and Poppy is the original.

You know, the bugsters keep saying something about how they'll become complete beings once they kill their hosts. What is Poppy did something similar?

She probably isn't a bugster herself, but being a character from a game, a game that became a gashat no less, she took over someone's body in order to become a physical being in our world as well. Asuna is probably just a random nurse who's body Poppy took over, and now both their minds are sharing it and taking turns controlling it. That's why Asuna gets so embarrassed whenever Poppy slips out in conversation, it actually is another person briefly interrupting and talking through her.

The biggest issue with night battles is that the suit actors have low visibility with their helmets to begin with, so in that situation, they're pretty much completely blind. Also, night battles tend to make use of helmets with glowing eyes, so they actually ARE blind.

The thing is, only their eyes/faces glowed. Faiz is the only Riders who has glowy parts all over his body. It's what made his night battles so memorable. Whenever people talk about night battles in Rider, it's always 555. It's not as if he's the only Rider who fought at night, but he IS the most memorable by far, and it's all thanks to the suit.

I think Takumi was basically used as the focus point of Shocker's History Revision Machine. In other words, Takumi and the Machine were tied together. Out of all the main Riders, he's the only one who perma-died, so I guess that made him the ideal candidate. It also ties back to Heisei VS Showa, where Takumi was the most affected by people's deaths, which was also an important factor to the machine's function.
