Like a society with stupids rules, a paramilitary lesbians prison, dragons, parallel universes, super maids, dragon amazons, and no respect for narrative coherence because the true director was Fukuda in disguise.

Valvrave has the same level of idiocy, with the flaw to consider itself a serious and dramatic anime.

1)The protagonist loses his memory every time he pilot the robot and he's destined to die because of this.
2)Constantly crying for his suffering and his responsibilities.
3)He is forced to rape a girl because he has no control of his body.
4)Many of his friends die because drama.
5)The second MC is equally dramatic because he can not save his alien waifu, no matter how great his mind is, he's doomed to fail.
6)Character sacrifices himself in the ending.

Now, both shows have a stupid script with vampires or dragons, but the first one plays with these elements, the second instead, uses a dramatic tone throughout.

This does not make Cross Ange good show, but it certainly more watchable than Valvravre.

Fukuda understood what made Ange great as a character. His staff not so much. Hilda and Ange would have been so much fake that it would have destroyed the show. I love Ange. She was legitimately entertaining throughout from beginning to end.
I also found her strong personality and kind of pushy disposition to be quite charming. Including how she would frequently turn into an outright bitch with a takes-no-shit kind of attitude.
And in the end, in spite of all that. She still cared. About most things that mattered at the very least. She is cool.

I've played it. You can suffer through without knowing any runes, the flying parts of the game are intuitive enough. And if any of your dialoge options matter, I was never made aware of it.

Secondly, Tusk's revival is just a proof that show never took itself seriously in terms of plot. And viewers were never supposed to take this show seriously too. This show was never about politics, world and other complex shit. It was always intended to be pure entertainment.
His ridiculous survival was one of the most memorable moments in Cross Ange. It was nice and refined shoutout to all those shitstorms about Kira surviving nuclear explosion in SEED and about Fukuda's storytelling style in general. Fukuda shows that he accepts criticism, but he can't do anything about himself and just and laughs about it together with viewers. I remember watching that moment with a huge smile imagining how /m/ would react to it.
