He did nothing wrong

Quattro was the hero we needed, unlike another blonde faggot I could mention.

It's debatable.
In 0079 his story is one of classical revenge.
In everything else he's a genocidal fucktard.
Frankly, I like to think of Char as that of 0079. He's a soldier that has a secret motive, that of getting back at the Zabis. He doesn't give a shit about dropping colonies on earth. He doesn't give a shit about politics etc... He cares only about himself, a little bit about his sister and is mad at Amuro for having killed his "love". What more do you want ?
By turning him into so kind of space hitler in the later series Tomino/Sunrise basically made him a running joke that persists to this day.

Jerid.

Anon, he didn't go full genocidal fucktard until CCA. He even protected the EF assembly at Dakkar to appeal to their higher sensibilities. Six years later, he'd probably blast 'em all though.

Did you ever watch Zeta?
Because his actions in CCA make sense if you've watched it.
Char buying into his father's politics was a way of giving himself something beyond revenge to define his life- we start to see this late in 0079. When he failed in Zeta his old demons like his rivalries with Amuro came back to haunt him and he got increasingly desperate in trying to deal with his personal issues while still holding on to his father's ideals and make them a reality. So he hatches up his plan in CCA to simultaneously deal with both. In the end thoug his personal demons end up ruining his ideal based goals when he gives Amuro the psychoframe technology. It is the same dynamic we saw with Char throughout the saga. In 0079 he had Lalah as a means to guide him towards his fathers ideals, but he had her fight Amuro with him due to his own desire for vengeance and she was lost due to it. In Zeta when the AEUG needs to ally with Neo Zeon Char ends up screwing it up due to his own personal beef with Haman, despite the AEUG being his best shot at the time to make his father's ideals become a reality. Then by the end of the Gryps war the AEUG is all but finished and they get friendly with the corrupt earth federation again. The same pattern always repeats itself with him. And it is very clearly the same man throughout the saga.

>He doesn't give a shit about politics etc
Why does everyone keep repeating that? It's wrong, you know. Maybe if you realize that everything will start making more sense.
