I can somewhat understand the logic, considering that Sailor Moon stopped airing shortly after Takeuchi's "fuck you" ending in the manga, so they needed something to take its place. Plus Flash isn't entirely subbed in English like other entries anyway, so nobody is forced to watch it.

I like the Shin designs but I guess I didn't care for the weird post-apocalyptic setting. Cyborg Danbei was kind of funny, the fact that that old fuck managed to survive into the Grim Darkness of the Far Future is just like him.

No seriously they are good. It's a mix of some Nagai (the default blonde) and some realism in the face (true honey, particularly when fighting). And that happened to mix very well.

Mangaka are storytellers first, designers second.

You're comparing a guy with a bunch of assistants to a full blown studio, where each individual in that studio is especially trained in one domain, whether it's character or mechanical design, or music / sound composition etc.

With that said, what you posted isn't far off from Shin Cutie Honey's design. The nose, facial shape are the same. The only big difference is the way the eyes are drawn, and that's because Nagai changed them.

His older works had more cartoony looking eyes like the ones you find in Shin.
