Best show is obviously subjective but S1, Makai Senki and Honoo no Kokuin are generally considered the best seasons. Makai no Hana is pretty damn good as well. Both Yamitera and Goldstorm are okay but for different reasons on both ends. Whatever you do though, just avoid Guren no Tsuki

Alice Hiromi:
A girl looking for a dragon's egg.
She likes photography, and she cares for a retro camera as if it were part of her body.
Her heart is attracted to pretty things and beautiful scenes, and her eyes bright with innocence.
She brims with curiosity, and that gives her a tendency to get in dangerous situations.

Rekka:
A Makai Priest who is an old friend of Rei.
She's a reliable comrade who's overcome lots of difficulties like Rei.
She's been acknowledged for her achievements up until now, so she's working directly under the Tribune.
She's strict with herself and with others, but she's a woman warm at heart.

Kagome:
A mysterious Makai Priest, it's unclear if she's an enemy or an ally.
She specializes in spells that cover her body in barriers, and she uses a scrubbing brush-like Madou Brush.

Bakura:
Shopkeeper of Bar Lupo attended by Rei.
He's an ex-Makai Priest, and one of the few people who know that Rei is a Makai Knight.
He's got a sour look and lacks sociability, but he cares for Rei somehow.

Yea I see your point, it's like with Kamen Rider where like 70% of the series the bad guy is either something like Shocker or a group of monsters trying to takeover/destroy humanity because fuck humans. Garo does do a really good job of having the situations leading up to the ancient evil awakens, i especially liked it in The One Who Sines in the Darkness. Question is who made Gouten for Ryuga.
By definition madou horses are made by sealing demon beast souls inside dead animal bodies.
If things like Zaruba required Amon to reseal it inside the ring for Saejima family, the pet horse would most likely required the same treatment.
In Ryuga's time Zaruba probably has been reset by Burai. I suspect the horse would need to be reset at some point. Maybe Burai got Ryuga something else instead of a horse but it isn't time for it to show.

The name is a pun on the word Kinrou (labor), as Kinrou Kansha no Hi is a November 23 Japanese festivity of Labor Thanksgiving Day, but you can put together the kanji for gold and the kanji for wolf and then they're also read as Kinrou, thus you get Kinrou Kansha Sai (Golden Wolf Thanksgiving Festival). I didn't like the Tsubasa and Jabi one too much myself. The action was really, really slow and awkward and the plot was a bit simple even by Garo standards. Also it's depressing seeing how old those two look now.

Retsuden was pretty hit-or-miss for me, I'd say that the ones that I enjoyed and the ones that were just okay were about even. It did also make we want a bunch of spin-offs for characters I didn't care as much about beforehand

Action in GARO has seen a general decline with regard to its earlier frenetic feeling since Makai no Hana, save for some fights here and there.
