If you're looking for something with more drama Fafner won't really be much to you unless you're invested in the characters.
especially since you'd have to wait until Exodus or RoL for the most payoff

If you just wanted the action it's probably not gonna do that for you either.
Fafner has great aciton scenes, but they can be a bit sparse.

I will never watch this show because of Hirai's ugly fujoshit characters designs.

I've never gotten the hate for Hirai designs.
I mean he's not the best character designer, but people act like 90% of anime characters aren't just faces with swapable eye colors and hairstyles.
Just look at Kyoani, they've been using the same 3-4 character bases for the past 9 years.

But I think in Fafner they don't bother me at all because of the overall quality of the show.
I don't even think seed's were that bad to be honest, you can only really tell in lineart, but in the show the characters often go off model enough to give each one a distinct look
