What's with the extravagance of transformation poses since Gaim, anyway? Prior to then, most transformation poses were fairly simple. Some didn't even really regular poses, like Den-O and Decade, though Den-O did have plenty of post-transformation poses.

One thing about Genm's Level 3 is that it partially covers the "pupils" of his eyes. So it's probably designed to make him look less silly, despite the fact that he's essentially wearing a bicycle.

Kabuki Theater did the entire "Wandering transforming hero fighting against an oppressive, massive empire" gimmick centuries before the Onoderas were even around. Look up "Aragoto" for such premises. They also posed frequently to help establish emotional climaxes (Mie), and any sort of change in emotion that followed (Sadness into anger, calmness into happiness, etc.) followed by an on-stage "transformation," typically the protagonist changing from regular clothing to battle garb or something else. This was called Hiki-nuki.
