I want to fugg a sopp
>>14886499
why the sopp/fss love lately?
>>14886516
It got me to watch the movie so it's all good.
>>14886516
I'm guessing more /m/en have just recently discovered FSS.
>>14886549
The movie got me to read to manga.
>yfw Sopp's daughter was Nagano's original Haman Karn design
>>14889094
Just going by her one scene in the manga, Laki and Sopp's daughter is a wierd and apparently fucking huge Fatima-hybrid though. She probably dwarfs Maximum Kaien by two or three heads.
>>14886499
For a second I thought it said soap
>>14889107
Everything about Kallen is creepy as fuck. I love how her first appearance in the manga was some crazy naked ranting skeleton thing emerging from a coffin.
Sopp's dead wife looks like a much more comfy character than the rest of the people he associates with.
>>14889122
That's how it's pronounced.
>>14889128
>Sopp's dead wife looks like a much more comfy character than the rest of the people he associates with.
I don't remember her looking anything like that.
>>14889159
That's because Nagano took all his older character designs from the 80s and put them through the Ghibli filter when the 2000's came around.
>>14889208
Is it strange that I prefer that over >>14889128?
>>14889320
Nagano's 80s style does have its charm, but it really creeps into uncanny valley territory at times. I prefer the newer character designs, too bad the mecha were degraded as a result. An ideal FSS anime adaptation would use the newer character designs and older Mortar Headds. Strangely enough the older characters look like they would go great with the Gothicmade designs.
>>14888721
Is that Daba?
>>14889474
I like the soulless fatima eyes
>>14889479
Can you spot the reference?
>>14889487
Isnt that L-Gaim?
>>14889751
L-Gaim MkII had the silhouette of a Fatima in its forehead jewel thing. It was never mentioned in-series, so I guess it was an idea that was scrapped.
>>14889502
Two references shurely.
>>14886499
>>14889122
I'drinseoff a soapy Sopp.
>>14889474
I like the older designs because they have more gravitas and don't look like some generic anime. They look like art pieces. Who cares if it's creepy or unusual? That's a hallmark of all good sci-fi and fantasy settings.
>>14891361
I just want my human characters to resemble humans, not alien freak mutants (although those do exist in FSS). A bit of stylization is fine, like the skinniness, but often in the past Nagano would go overboard.
Also, even with his newer art, Nagano's character designs are still far from generic. But this time they actually look like people.
>>14892200
does this not look like a person to you?
>>14892506
That looks terrible.
>>14892506
That's just a face, not a full body shot. Most of Nagano's older characters look rather unearthly even in normal clothing.
>>14892200
>(although those do exist in FSS)
I remember that non-headdliners generally look much less freaky.
>>14893130
Not really, no >>14893080
Unless you're referring to characters like the tank infantry.
muh dicc
So my evaluation of the old character art was a bit off. It wasn't uncanny valley so much that it was made for more of a paper format. Therefore the characters would have more simple color palettes and look really flat with minimal shading/shadows. This was before Nagano switched to digital, and when he did his designs gained the type of depth you would expect from something that looks like it's supposed to be animated.
