This has never been a board that NEEDS generals because it's not active enough. If you have something you wanna talk about just talk about it. The reason why Toku shows have generals is because they have a bad reputation here but also because they constantly have episodes and prior to enforced generals they flooded the board.

Look man I appreciate that you want a nice place for Getter and Go Nagai threads but you can't force generals as the standard because they are done for containment purposes. /m/ is a slow board, generals aren't really needed and it's better that people can talk about Mecha from all walks in every thread without constricting to one general series.

Only exceptions are Muvluv and Symphogear because they are so niche that they know what they wanna talk about and that's the only haven for their very niche interest in the west.

There's plenty who have interest in it and there are Mazinger threads all the time, it might not be the main interest of the board but most people here know about or have seen some version of Mazinger. It's one of THE giant robots and is the first cockpit piloted mech, it's hardly niche here. To call Mazinger niche then everything that isn't Gundam IBO is niche.

I only hated the tv magazine part of the Mazinger manga, which is like the last volume, but other than that i thought it was good. Even France agrees with me, and they just released Mazinger and Great Mazinger. It got rated 15/20 on a site.

It just means that everyone thought ill of Shin Mazinger except you. The reception was terrible and the show was horribly ridiculed on sites like 2ch by fans and non fans alike. Not only that, Shin Mazinger pretty much killed the IP for a good number of years which led to DP and Toei re-negotiating deals, which led to stuff like Robot Girls Z.

No, but I read his review and he was kinder to it than I was. Mazinger is a fun manga that Nagai made to blow off steam after Devilman. Its quality only really decreases when the manga was moved to TV Magazine, but even then, those chapters didn't last forever, and we were already on our way with Great Mazinger.
I read Grendizer which includes one of Ken Ishikawa's chapters and I enjoyed it all.

I enjoyed them at least more than some of the Gundam series I was watching at the time, like Wing and 0083.

I like Boss's gangs new hang out in Great Mazinger. Very comfy old port. Also Tetsuya is being an autist again.

I don't really see the problem some people have with Robot Girls Z.

It's a fun little show, with quirky little inside jokes for old fans of the anime, while still being its own cute little thing.

It's also got some interesting characters in it, such as Mazinger Z the bully and Jeeg the office lady cosplayer.

I'd enjoy it if they made more episodes instead of limiting it to an online game.

That said, there's nothing wrong with any series I posted.

Mazinger tries one thing, and it's good at it. Gundam tries a lot of things, and because of its overzealous ambitions, it fails in a lot of these areas. Mazinger is a speciality series, Gundam is an all purpose series.

Of course they do. The thing is, there's no consistent fanbase for Nagai so it's possible to have a discussion side-by-side with the shitposting like it's the case in most Gundam threads. The shitposting can easily overshadow any potential discussion.

That said, what the fuck do you think Harenchi Gakuen was about? When everyone was trying hard to be popular with more complex and engaging stories in the 60s, Nagai came in the picture, did exactly what the moe studios are doing right now and got famous for it. He figured it out long before the industry even had a proper grasp on the concept.

I've been reading Harenchi Gakuen recently. It's surprisingly funny, one of my favorite Nagai manga for sure. I really like the art too, the soft and varied line art is a pleasure for the eye.

About Harenchi Gakuen, I think what it did right was making a silly ecchi comedy in a time where everything was so goddamn depressing. It also came at the the peak of the gekiga popularity. Harenchi Gakuen offered silly unpretentious fun for young readers looking for escapism. It was the beginning of the Shonen Jump method.

I just find it very difficult to care about something I have no way of changing.

All the anime I watch is downloaded, because streaming services don't work for me. So if the content makers are relying on any data from the sites, they're not gonna get my viewership on there.

If I ever buy merchandise, it's for stuff that's already out of the production system. I got the Giant Robo blurays, doesn't mean that my purchase will help secure a new GR OVA.

To the Japanese content makers and publishers, I don't exist. I'm not a buyer they can depend on, but the otaku who enjoy this stuff are still a genuine part of their audience.

As far as shows go, Robot Girls Z is honestly pretty inoffensive, and at times it ends up being charming due to the twists on the characters portraying their robot counterparts.

The one thing I'd like to see them bounce off of this, however, is for something like Mazinger Angels or Mazinger Otome to get an animated adaptation.

But I may as well be asking for a Grendizer sequel or remake at this point.

Generals are pointless for something that isn't currently airing or being published. Gundam or Kamen Rider makes sense because they have ongoing material. But things like Mazinger or Votoms doesn't need one, just make individual threads. That's how image boards work.
