Has mecha ever influenced the way you act?
I started drinking black coffee because of Votoms.
>>
You are a weak faggot to be influenced by a cartoon. I drink black coffee because I enjoy the taste, not to feel a connection with some animu man.

In some little ways, I suppose. When I was younger I'd make the sounds Wanzers from front mission made when walking around and stuff.

More generally, I'd honestly say mecha and /m/ have made me a much better person than I used to be, as I think I may have mentioned before. When I was a teenager, I used to be pretty abrasive and angry, getting into fights with people over the silliest nonsense. When I came to /m/ and started watching stuff like LoGH, Vifam, and other shows, however, I grew more conscious of the importance of understanding different perspectives and thinking seriously and maturely about my beliefs (in the case of LoGH), or the general importance of loyalty to one's friends, determination in the face of adversity, and how a positive attitude is generally more constructive than misguided anger (Vifam, and most /m/ shows really). I'd say it made me a better citizen, and that line of thinking is something I try to adhere to in my interactions with people generally these days.

Maybe the SEED Destiny OP 1, but Shinn does something a little different.

Not that anon, but I don't think it would hurt us to imagine that some ISIS recruits should be pitied rather than hated, hurt, lonely wandering souls lured into evil with false promises. And then there are the people who lived there, for whom active rebellion isn't really a choice, and don't want to run away from their home or leave their family behind. Same with Nazis.

Someone might object by basically saying, "Don't feel sorry for them, if you empathize with them that means you won't be able to fight them effectively." But that's a non-sequiter. I think that you can do what needs to be done, taking your enemy's life, all the while empathizing with them and seeing their humanity.

But... perhaps that belief makes me the real monster... Perhaps the human thing to do is to dehumanize the enemy so that you can kill them while keeping your conscience in tact, and to kill without dehumanizing is what's truly unforgivable.

Anons, just what am I? I'm worthless, an incomplete man, the worst! Stay away from me!

you're both wrong. coffee is objectively a better beverage with dairy inserted.

everybody who drinks black coffee does it to be a faggot edgelord because every "badass" character ever drinks their coffee black to prove how rugged they are. it's the choice that says they don't care that their drink tastes like shit -- in fact they're so hard they love the taste of shit-- and furthermore they just need the drugs in their system so they can solve the next homicide. life is shit and so your caffeinated jew should taste like shit too.
>>
>>14876338
>am I not human because I don't just dehumanize the enemy?!

nah it's pretty human bro. it's basically the idea that everybody does everything for reasons that are reasonable to them given the innumerable conditions that formed their decision-making abilities. very few people do things because they are mustache-twirlingly, blood for the blood god EVIL. most people think they're right and if you followed all of their precise steps, with all of their inherent and acquired faults, you'd see why they think that way.

stories for children tend to not like to pursue this level of complexity and prefer black and white stories about objectively good people struggling with objectively evil people. it helps more easily instill whatever moral lesson they are inevitably trying to teach. what's funny is that it does ignore one of the chief moral lessons about life... that people are products of circumstance just as much, if not more, than they are agents. this is why Naruto has a better story than Dragonball Z.

Honestly a few animus have encouraged good values in me: hope in ‘Digimon Adventure’ and ‘Tamers’, masculine assertiveness in ‘Hokuto no Ken’, both in ‘Gurren Lagann’ and ‘Kamen Rider Kūga’. The latter three helped pull me out of my depression a few years back, and ‘The Big O’ has encouraged a lot of introspection on the optimal intersection of self-determination or divinely ordained purpose — a salient topic for me since I’m religious.

Initially I took engineering for the sake of it because this is what is expected from you as a science student.

Then I started watching mecha anime.

3rd year of my course. I actually start to like my field, and start to develop a little interest in robotics. Attend a workshop.
And then I realized the time I have wasted away since the 1st year.
Had I known better, I could have tried seriously to make a career in engineering than slacking off, treating it something as a stepping stone to a desk job.

But it was too late.

One and a half year later, I am slogging through exam related studies to a get a job asap.
But deep down there, I still intend to learn more of this filed, and wish to take it up seriously after I secure a steady source fo income.

How the fuck can people stand black coffee? it's so bitter...
I mean honestly i don't see much reason to drink coffee at all, caffeine is some bullshit that I've never really notice having an effect, and if i can't taste it or smell it, i have no reason to seek it out other than being mildly addicted to it, which I'm not.

I like green tea though, sweetened or unsweetened, never cared much for black teas, except for Earl Grey which is pretty swish.

Anyway, you do you bro, i just had to let that info off my chest.

I can't name any specific ways that Mecha anime has influenced me, maybe it's affected what words i us in regular conversation but I haven't picked up on any of that.

But I also love the fruity, bitter taste. It's funky, when you drink black the taste becomes completely different, almost like tea. It is delicious. Cream and dairy make me nauseous with their "richness", cost a lot more, and take time to prepare.
