I finally started LoGH and am slow burning it at 1 episode a night until the series really gets going and picks up my interest enough to watch more than one episode at a time. I have to say the episodes are pretty good for mainly info dumps and world building, and the first two episodes took me about 10 minutes after to digest all the information. Took me a bit too grasp the full impact of the first battle and just how brutally Reiner turned a terrible situation into a brutal crushing of the alliance. Episode 3 is where I'm at now and the episode gripped my attention much more.

My friend said it's largely works building for the first 20 or so episodes and from then on is when the drama and plot really kicked in and never really stopped. Would you guys agree with that sentiment?

The show has the most solid 10 episodes i have ever seen in any show.

One episode per faction that introduces in the beginning gives you time to catch up to all the plot and characters. That ends after the first 20 episodes though.

Alright I just finished season 1 yesterday and I need to vent. Kircheis is my favorite character, alongside Wenli.

I got spoiled on Kircheis about halfway through my watching of season one, but I was wasn't expecting it to happen so soon. I was thinking maybe mid season 2/3 or some shit, not this early.

It just happened so fast, I didn't even believe it at first. I cried.

They are very solid but definitely slow which is good since a lot is being explained and established. I'm sure later on I'll be marathoning but right now it feels best to go 1 at a time.

Fortunately I haven't been spoiled for anything even though I've seen several characters declared dead in various threads, but since there's so many characters and all with German names I don't know who they were and forgot the names. Only thing I know is Orenstein, or whatever his name is, is an asshole.

First time I saw a LoGH thread just starting in a while so thought I'd ask before it becomes spoiler city.

I thought Kircheis came off as kinda flat in the main series, but felt the Gaiden stuff and the books gave him quite a bit of depth. I really should re watch series to appreciate him more.

It can be daunting to get into (although /m/ seems to be a lot more into longer anime) but shit's so worth it. Well, at a least the 110 OVAs and the 2 films. I didn't watch the side stories, didn't seem worth it.
