It's a reference to the video included in the OP. Quite positive. Check it out.
Where have I seen the overly attractive female actress before? She looks familiar and its bugging the hell out of me, but I dont know her name so I can't google it.
This movie was fuckin' good
If you told me it was mostly about bureaucracy and like 80% of the scenes took place in conference rooms I wouldn't have gone to see it, but I loved it

Not the one that needs more coffee.
I only saw this because of Anno, which I know makes me a pleb

The camp is real in older ones. But they are fun.
Try Godzilla 1985 as its another reboot, but it is the start of a series of films that follow after one another and has a large number of decent films in the series.

Not really. More like welcome to the Heisei series.
>>14854930
> Heisei Era has a large number of decent films
Since when? Besides Biollante and King Ghidorah, this group consistently has some of the worst human casts in the series. Besides Godzilla 2014 of course.

>>14855810
Personal service. I misquoted it a couple threads ago, lol.
>>14855811
Legit good part of the movie.and okay I actually liked the Aliens scene
>>14855811
Don't care about elitefags, Heisei is fine, only a few movies are actually bad there.
>>14855810
People really weren't kidding about how awful her English was. It jumped completely over Engrish and went into full numb tongue territory.
>>14855820
Was that meant to be a slight reference to Misato's famous promises from NGE or am I mistaken?
The only objectively bad Heisei movie is Space Godzilla and you can't prove me wrong.
>>14855833
I don't objectively disagree.
>>14855828
I've no idea.
>>14855822
>>14855833
After King Ghidorah, the Heisei movies had dull characters and lazy writing and lazy effects and pale in comparison to even the '70s movies. They are just bad films. The most they get is slightly imaginative or "well at least it wasn't horrible."
>>14855833
Godzilla vs Mothra (1992) is objectively bad.
Return of Godzilla is dull. People love it for its serious tone. Only areas I can really think to praise it in is the music and atmosphere (does this better than G14). Feels like a less inspired take on Gojira and features a much weaker human component, which does it no favors.
Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla II. One of the better entries in this group. Plagued to a lesser degree with the same issues as the films surrounding it.
Destoroyah is appreciated for its fight scenes, titular opponent, and emotional climax. Outside of that it's fairly meh and probably has the most wasted potential of all the films in the series.
>>14855840
The fact that you keep talking shit about MechaGodzilla II and Desetroyah disturbs me greatly.
>>14854927
The 1954 original is what you're looking for. Return of Godzilla is also pretty similar, although not as good but still worth checking out.
>>14855772
>>14855776
Heisei really did go downhill in the 90's, huh
>>14855461
>Closest one is a 2 and a half hour drive
I'm not waiting any longer to see if any other theaters close by update their showings.
Third time will be the best watch.
>>14855822
Heisei post-Biollante is an eyesore, to be really honest. And post-KG it just got bland.
Except Spacegodzilla, which has some legit "so-bad-it's-amazing" moments
>>14855847
Return is one of those movies you put on when you're doing shit. It's comfy.
>>14855849
I'm sorry but they are bad. Mechagodzilla II actually opens great, feels fast paced, has a likeable hero for once, and has some interesting fantasy elements. But it slogs halfway through, and though the effects are slightly better and there are a couple awesome money shots, there are also a lot of bad ones and there are no excuses for how shitty Rodan looks.
Destroyer has a sense of gravity about it but they really halfassed the script and the effects, and it's kind of downright insulting for Godzilla's supposed last exit.
Also friendly reminder that Return of Godzilla is technically a Showa movie.
>>14855871
This. Heisei peaked with Biollante. Best cast (Gondo and Miki) in the that cluster of movies and easily the best special effects. Biollante herself was probably Toho's greatest technical feat since King Ghidorah in Ghidorah (1964). You could make an argument for Kumonga and the insects in Son of Godzilla as well.
>>14855883
>Destroyer has a sense of gravity about it but they really halfassed the script and the effects, and it's kind of downright insulting for Godzilla's supposed last exit.
Plus, the transfer on the R1 release looks fucking awful. You look at some different releases, and they have that blue J-horror filter that gives it at least a bit of atmosphere. The R1 release looks colorless and just shitty
>>14855892
Gondo was a crazy bastard and hevwas awesome. No wonder him and Yuki were bros
>What? The Godzilla 2000 DVD was actually really nice for a DVD of that era. That was back in the day when most DVDs didn't even have menus. We're talking like when Warner Brothers DVDs would have been considered nice.
What I meant was the Godzilla 2000 DVD was originally supposed to include the Japanese version of the film. A couple months before it came out Toho had them remove it and release only the English dub because 2000 was their first huge Godzilla DVD release and they did not want the cheaper American disc cannibalizing sales.
>>14855833
Space Godzilla had some of the best cinematography of the series.
>>14855907
Ehhh... the beach scenes looked good, but that's about it
Friendly reminder that Yuki became the prime minister's aide and then died in a helicopter crash.
>>14855953
Hasn't this guy been in a lot of Godzilla films since Heisei?
>>14855959
I don't think so. You might be thinking of Koichi Ueda.
>>14855921
The entire final fight and city destruction scenes looked really great too.
What's the best showa movie outside of the original?
>>14855998
Mothra vs. Godzilla is widely considered the best best.
In fact it is actually Ghidrah the Three-Headed Monster.
>>14855985
Does Akira Nakao appear too? I think I saw him in the trailers.
>>14856020
No, that was Jun Kunimura, who was in Final Wars, Attack on Titan, and Kill Bill.

>>14856038
> All Monsters Attack and Raids Again are the best of the Showa Era
Being this contrarian. Let me guess, Megalon is next on the list?
Godzilla vs Gigan is pretty good though. If it weren't for the (needless) stock footage and poor condition of the Godzilla/Ghidorah suits, it'd get much more respect than it does.

I prefer Mechagodzilla over Terror, but they're both my favorite Showa movies (besides the original, of course).
>>14856059
Terror is my favorite movie of all time.
>>14856059
I normall have a grimdark boner too, but this time I'm gonna have to go with the camp choice and pick MG '74. The goofy tone was perfect for the plot and it felt more like a complete narrative than ToMG.
>>14856061
They fall the serious tone meme. There was some severe tonal clashes (not in a good way) and acting is all across the board. Honda just couldn't seem to pull it off a strong human story after Monster Zero. Not trolling, but the closest he got was All Monsters Attack. There was potential there.
>>14856061
It's got a very weird, bleak mood, great Ifukube, great city destruction sequence, and probably the hardest battle Godzilla's fought outside Hedorah.
It's like a dark fairytale of a Godzilla movie.

I feel like this incarnation was totally harmless.
First form was mostly unseen besides the tail but mostly swam around and erupted red liquid in Tokyo Bay.
His second form he was swimming up the river and adjusting to the land, nothing malicious. Just really clumsy.
After evolving into his third form and gaining leg strength, he still kept walking and even when he just stood there and observed before overheating and running back into the ocean.
And lastly in his adult form, while again he's just walking, he doesn't do anything with malicious intent. He's just traveling. When the military bombard him with missiles and tank fire, he slows a bit and slightly changes direction but that's about it before he kicks the bridge towards them.
And of course, when he's injured he flips out and unloads everything he has until he falls asleep. Same with when they wanted to feed him coagulant/ attacking with drones, he felt threatened and unloaded again.

Shin Goji is kind of odd. He had no actual reason to attack Japan, unless the scientist dude somehow influenced him to do it. I mean, he started the movie under his yacht.
>>14856960
He was trying to head somewhere, I wish we knew where. Was it just Tokyo or something more?
>>14856959
As much as I like the idea, Discords for whatever reason usually turn to shit, at least in my incredibly poor experiences.also too shy to communicate non-anonymously
I never realised just how much his chest puffed up. That's a lot of gas.
>>14856965
Well, he wasn't heading towards any nuclear reactors, since the sun and wind were more than enough of an energy source. Did he even have a destination he wanted to arrive to?
>>14856972
He's actually using the radiation reserves he has stored up in his stomach. He's somehow able to convert them into a breath beam.
>>14856959
I'll join if you ever make one.
Just don't shill it more than once.
I'm serious.
>>14856973

>>14857005
It all makes sense.
So guys, just wanted to say I started a project today in which a friend is in a psychedelic rock band that plays 1970's rock music, we are going to remix Godzilla versus the Smog Monster with his band's new jams to make something cool. Hope to someday soon post it for you guys!
>>14857019
What like acid rock, or prog rock?Smog rock?
>>14856644
I love the balance of "typical ameriga" and "GOD BLESS USA" in this movie, and the vast majority of it being commentary from Japan.
>>14856839
NEVER.
>>14856965
>>14856973
He just wanted to get out into the world and experience new things.
>>14857022
Acid rock. I'm thinking of splicing together parts of Smog Monster and destroy all monsters since they use the same suit. But I have to make a storyboard and go over what parts they want to make original music for.
>>14857051
Sampling or interpolation of the melody?
>>14857057
Basically I am going to strip all the music out and they are going to do their own fresh music over the whole thing. They wanted to possibly use it as video for their live shows so we may use more Godzilla than speaking parts, just to use the live actors as sort of interludes between their jams.
>>14857099
You damn well better include:
>the fish transformation scene
>animated interludes
>sfx including Godzilla and Hedorah's cries

a. Had a camrip but his friend told the police he had the footage
b. Has a camrip, but for whatever reason doesn't want to share it with us so he acted like people were knocking at his door.
c. only had still images, no camrip and invented the story once he posted all the images he had/wanted to post

So me and a friend went to see it, and there was almost a riot when they started showing Suicide Squad instead.
>>14857418
How do you screw something like that up?
>>14857434
I'm thinking the movie didn't come with any trailers so they just started up whatever they had loaded in at the time and were going to which it out after but forgot.
>>14857452
Mine had trailers before hand. 2 Funimation ones and one about Doctor Strange and that Andrew Garfield movie.
>>14857105
Oh most definitely. I'm a Godzilla fan first and foremost, I just want to make the movie fresh.
>>14856709
Wait, so he doesn't reappear looking like he's a burnt corpse? I thought the idea was he'd survive being nuked but just barely, thus where the charred skin comes from.
>>14857503
No head canon anon. He shows up after some period of time and just looks like hamburger for no reason other than it looks cool.
>>14857469
I don't know what was up then, but it was swiftly taken care after a couple guys ran out to bust some heads.
>>14857503
No, he's just fucked from the get go.
>>14857508
>No head canon anon.
It's not. I remember it being mentioned long awhile ago when the poster first cropped up. They said that he was hit with a big-ass nuke, tanked the core of the explosion, but didn't come out unscathed. The point was he was capable of healing himself to a degree where he's still alive but at the same time locked in this state of perpetual agony and pain. Some crazy ass shit.
>>14857527
While that does indeed sound cool, and something similar to what I thought from the first trailer, it isn't what happened in the flick.
>>14857527
Those were rumors, anon. Everyone was making guesses at why he looked like a really burnt hotdog, and the nuke theory was the most popular one.
>>14857546
I thought ano made him look like that because of how some corpses from hiroshima and nagasaki looked

I've heard incredibly mixed things about Final Wars. Worth a watch or only worth it to see Toho Godzilla blast Tristar Godzilla to Sum 41?
>>14857569
Which state, friend? My theater was almost full when I saw it Tuesday night.
>>14857527
Those were desperate fanbois being triggered by the design and going M-m-muh LIZARD! doing desperate intellectual somersaults to fanwank a scenario where ShinG becomes same, old MUH LIZARD in the end.

It's Godzilla fighting as many monsters as possible, some bullshit plot about Matrix aliens or something, and a hot chick in red leather.
>>14857572
It's a hot mess of a film and despite having a dozen monsters is mostly poorly choreographed martial arts fights with humans. There's a good movie in it, and some fun can be had with it. I will say it's got lots of style. It's a hip Godzilla movie.

cheese is a part of the franchise and you gotta love itthat and DAM is a mess as far as technical stuff at times "t-thats totally Baragon guys! we didnt just do a quick shot with the Gorosaurus suit and hope people wouldn't notice! and this Varan puppet is just as good too right?"

The Baragon/ Gorosaurus mixup is a dubbing error, there are a Gorosaurus suit and a Baragon suit each in DAM

im pretty sure they call him Baragon in the OG version as well and i was under the impression that Baragon was only lightly used due to the fact that the suit was in very poor condition

I'd rather a sequel to the PS4 one that has better gameplay. The PS4 one NAILS the look and feel of the toho films
Does anybody have a link to the youtube video where the guy explains why all the complaints about the movie are bullshit and he includes like a solid 10 minutes of tsunami/earthquake/fukushima footage to show what the film was trying to go for?
>>14856576
nah it needs to be a sequel, with an even larger roster than Unleashed had
>>14855828
That is how I took it at my second showing, But I bought a big drink I dumped half of a supersize coca cola out and filled it with a 5th of JD. So I was feeling good through the movie and admiring all the cakes in the front row. I kept an eye on the arabs but they seemed like punkrock/bike messenger heretic types who likr drinking the beer and watching cartoons with the giant robot punching things in the face and the giant monster shitting on cities. That and the theater had a bar and i got there like hour and half early and watched the game and drank the weird movie themed drinks.
I watched The Skull Island trailer before my Shin showing and then watched it in youtube again After. I learned a new meme that apparently universities are censoring because it is a micro Holocaust against "POC" and violates some short of talking about rape laws. I don't fucking know.

Ah yes the one where a meteor explodes
anyone remember the line about "our vast nuclear wisdom?"
So /m/, I have a question.
I'm going to be Godzilla for halloween this year. did it last year and it went fantastically. One of those inflatable '14 costumes went over incredibly well at parties. After separating the tongue from the mesh so I could drink, people just wouldn't stop handing me alcohol and loving it.
Obviously i'm doing it again this year, but better. I'm going to be wearing a bluetooth speaker around my neck, and have a friend hold my phone which will have godzilla roars queued up to blast out. Before I start chopping up a compilation video from youtube into isolated mp3 files, I figured I might as well ask. Does anyone have any idea if there is a collection of individual different Godzilla roars in mp3 format floating around somewhere?
I was told that there are doujins of the homely laptop girl from this movie, where do I find them?

Size related, as careful as G14 was he still managed to destroy quiet a bit.

He was from what we saw, do you count the death of every ant or other bugs you've stepped on?
>>14858321
So you would be with the "Gojira is God! Protect Gojira!" mob, then.
>>14858321
You're honestly nitpicking. The sum amount of damage that he pulls in this movie just from being provoked alone is probably roughly equal to what he does in G84's later half.
You're really just complaining that this version doesn't go on the offensive as much as yur preferred version for the character would. And you're totally entitled to your personal taste in not preferring this version, but trying to twist an arbitrary personal judgment into some kind of "not muh real goji" when Godzilla is a character who's beein reinterpreted as many times as he has is arbitrary and kind of a waste of time and mental energy, m8

>You're honestly nitpicking.
How so? Discussing that Shin was as much as of a victim as the ones who died in the film.
>Shin was a threat due to his size and presence(Radiation, etc), but did nothing wrong.
>Humans were scared for themselves and for the feat of losing their home.
Neither side were the bad guys.
>The sum amount of damage that he pulls in this movie just from being provoked alone is probably roughly equal to what he does in G84's later half.
I never said that the damage itself was justified, it's just that due to Shin's size damage alone that is should be expected.
>You're really just complaining that this version doesn't go on the offensive as much as yur preferred version for the character would.
Putting words in my mouth much?
I loved this version of Godzilla because he wasn't "EVIL Godzilla" but he was just an animal, like the 1954 version. Shin did more than enough damage in a single scene to put most other Godzilla "rampages" to shame.

Ah well, no choice but to wait for the DVD
>>14856945
It is, it's a typical animal.
Only problem is that it's very presence in and of itself is dangerous.
It's a walking nuke that lets out tons of radiation, etc. It's size makes it destroy anything in its way, and there's no way of communicating with it.
It's a pest, but unlike regular pests this one can easily kill us all.
