We all agree Zeta is terrible right?
The writing is bad even compared to other Gundams including the first one.

>We all agree
Stopped reading right there.
No, we don't all agree. We NEVER all agree.
Agreed. Zeta was pretty bad on all fronts.

Zeta was my favorite Gundam and I'm not being ironic at all
>>14839322
I think we can all agree that these threads are getting tiring and OP needs to get a life.

I hate Zeta and even I'm tired of these things.
Isn't this a girl's bait thread?

Chop 20 episodes off and you might have a bearable show. There is a lot of filler in Zeta.
It's almost funny how we don't have mods.

It's a HUGE step down from 0079. Great mechs, music, and character design, though. Lots of great moments too, even though they're few and far between.
Last year I saw the first episode of The Origin, Thunderbolt, 0079, and 0080. Almost every Gundam series I've touched since was worse. Zeta in particular was disappointing because 0079 was a show that went out of its way to set itself apart from ordinary "Saturday Morning" cartoons, but Zeta went out of its way to live down to that standard.

Saturday Morning cartoons don't exist in Japan, and if you think MSG was any different from previous mecha shows other than the setting, then you're wrong and uninformed.

Still a better story than 00

Tomino himself said that Gundam was a response to anime where friendship and human connection came easy. It's a show about a ship full of people with different viewpoints and goals who shouldn't be where they are, running away from likewise enemies who struggle to understand them while hunting them down. Everything, from the "everyman" villains to the concept of Newtypes exists to serve that end.
Zeta just took the setting of 0079, dropped the central theme (or at least kept it around in the shittiest most melodramatic way possible), and made it less grounded.

I would be shocked if a gundam TV series had "Good dialogue" or "Great writing". I don't know if I'd enjoy them as much either.

Saturday morning cartoons exist in nearly every country Japan included although how they're named is different. But the concept is the same. It's called (or used to be called) mainstream anime. Broadcast during a children's block on tv. In the US that happened to be saturday morning for many years. In France it was wednesday afternoon (since wesdnesday was the day off while kids went to school on saturday). In Italy it was the 5 pm timeslot every weekday.
Etc... So stop being fucking pedantic.
Gundam was mainstream anime, because it was fucking broadcast for a general audience in Japan. It had new concepts not seen until then in other "robots" anime but it was squarely aimed during its tv run at kids.

unfortunately tomino didn't manage to communicate any of that
wtf I hate Zeta now

Hating something apriori is stupid. Watch the damn thing and form your own opinion.
>>14839520
I watched it and it sucked.
>>14839363
for expressing his opinion about a terrible mecha show? OK.
>>14839322
I think the only writing we can agree is terrible are your posts
Can you really not contain your autism? Did you not notice the other two or three zeta threads?
When I was in college 4 years ago I ran an anime club. Since most of us didn't go anywhere for spring break, we marathoned the Zeta Gundam series that week. It was one of the best experiences I had in college, and I really got close to a female member of the anime club that week, who I am marrying spring next year.
Thank you, Zeta. We are going to have the Zeta song at our wedding.
