Hey, this is kinda off topic, but I recently read through Mazinger vol 1-5, it was pretty good but I have a few questions
>The Jet Scrander and Boss Borot just sort of came out of nowhere. Why is that? I'm assuming it has to do with the old Toei anime, maybe?

It was good only in Shonen Jump.

Correct. Nagai was too busy with his other manga and wasn't feeling it, so Mazinger got moved to TV Magazine, a magazine which specialises manga tie ins that followed the anime, which is why Boss and the Jet Scrander appeared out of nowhere.

Also read Devilman by Mitsuru Hiruta and the Jeeg manga. Both are TV Magazine stuff, and it shows. The chapters are really short and you don't have any breathing room to get yourself invested in the story.

The Toeizingers aren't bad. They're the classics, but if you want a taste, watch the movies.
