Are these Megaman animu any good
>>
>>14830778
The last real one Beast is essentially a henshin hero anime that gets pretty awesome as it goes on.

Shame they dropped the actual story for mostly anime only plot, on the other hand we got to see characters stick around for much longer than in the games.
>>
>>14830778
Better than they could have been. Think Medabots for the tone, but add a few extra shonen transformations.

The funny thing is the head writer started out writing for episodes of Super Sentai shows (most notably Jetman).
>>
>>14830778
Not really. There's that one OVA made to promote tourism to Japan, and the 90s cartoon with SIZZLING CIRCUITS, but that's it. Everything else isn't Megaman.

>The funny thing is the head writer started out writing for episodes of Super Sentai shows

Now it all makes sense, the entire show does feel an awful lot like a sentai show once they get their hands on tech that lets them drop dimensional areas at will.

I was just going to make a thread about this.
Does anyone have any idea what these red lenses on his ears, feet and buster are supposed to be?
>>
Does anyone from The Undersquare still lurk around here?

That EXE6 release period was pretty fun.
>>
>>14830778
Rockman.exe was really awesome for a kid show for its time, but didn't really age very well.

Ryuusei no rockman felt really bland and wasted potential when it releasead but for some strange reason aged really well.

well I have no idea what the others are for but you do realize that a laser is a concentrated beam of light focuses through a lens
>>

A laser typically doesn't come out in the form of a ball. If it were just the buster I wouldn't question it, but why his ears and feet?
>>
>>14830888

You do ALSO realize that it's not an actual ball rather it's just the nes being limited. He's not actually shooting lemons.

>Sera, the moon's goddamn protector android, tries to dredge up an old grudge, gets her ass handed to her by Volnutt, who has fully embraced his new life as a Digger and doesn't even see himself as Trigger anymore
>Sera and Yuna decide to become treasure hunters too as the system they were keeping dormant reawakens and exposes new ruins and reaverbots

I absolutely love this scenario, it's far more interesting than just "hero bot beats villain bot, rinse and repeat". Not that there's anything wrong with that though.

The ones in the bottom are design elements. They could also be like a prototype for the booster dash Zero and X used in the later games.

Anyone else here read the Mega Man comic from Archie? I really enjoyed it. Probably one of the best comics I've read in a while.
>>
I didn't really think it was especially all that well written. There where some okay moments here and there but holy shit the pacing was awful. You'd get issues of him blowing apart masters in like two pages.

I know we have 8 to get through but you can dial it back a little bit.
>>
>>14834442
>You'd get issues of him blowing apart masters in like two pages.
>I know we have 8 to get through but you can dial it back a little bit.

I blame the idiotic 4-part/issue arc format Archie uses for their Action brand nowadays. Also, Kaminski's boner for crossovers had him shove in too many crossovers too early.
>>
>>14834493

The first sonic one was pretty fun. But the second was dreadful. They went to the effort of getting the license of a shit load of IPs just to have them stand around for two pages doing fuck all.
>>
>>14834506
It's a shame, especially considering it's the only appearance characters like Arthur and Alex Kidd got to make in ages. The comic would have far better off if IDW did it.
>>

Arthur was just in MvC3. Alex Kidd was in Racing Transformed which I guess was a far more low key affair, which makes me sad as that game was great.

I kinda get why Capcom let it die. Everyone involved with the franchise left in the PS2 era, you wanna hand something like Megaman to a bunch of newbies? Who do you think they are, Konami?

The fact that they kept making RE games after Mikami left amazes me. RE5 was good though so I don't mind.
>>
>>14837099
They know their audience. EXE did a real good job on pandering to all fronts, shota included.
>>
Why do people dislike Starforce when it's more or less the exact same thing as Battle Network?

Litterally the only difference is the visual design (and ONLY the design, the style is identical) and one less axis in battles. In all other respects is basically just BN, right down to the writing, gameplay, Overworlds, and character archetypes

>>14831942
>Starforce would have been good if the only really good game wasn't the last one.
1 and 2 were on par with the BN games as well though

Litterally the only complaint i've seen to back up the dislike is "the encounter rate on 2 is too high" which is super minor
>>
>>14842447
>you wanna hand something like Megaman to a bunch of newbies?

I think newbies could do a pretty good job at anything as long as they don't have retarded producers behind saying NO to all the fun ideas
>>
>>14842781
It could work, assuming Sprites Inc. people are involved (without the loopier/stupider members getting much to do, of course). Heck, Sega got some fans of Sonic on-board for recent sprite-based 2-D installments, and that turned out to be a good idea, so there's some precedent.
>>
>>14842447
>I kinda get why Capcom let it die. Everyone involved with the franchise left in the PS2 era
And the fact that sales had dropped exponentially since then
>>
>>14842790
The sales didn't drop, but Megaman never had very high sales in the first place. It was a series that went on for years with 400k-800k units, outside of the Battle Network series, but at the time Capcom wanted million sellers.

If you look at Capcom's official site, Megaman had 134 skus (including ports) and 31 million sales overall.

So, with the staff leaving, there was little reason to throw new staff at it.
>>
>>14834506
Worlds Unite was such a dissapointment. How you fuck up Sega vs. Capcom?!
>>
>>14835338
I still mostly blame this on the second game being utter horseshit. The first game had passable gameplay and a great story, the third game had great gameplay and a good story. Somehow the second game ended up having the worst gameplay -and- story in all MMBN and SF games. And that includes MMBN4's gameplay and MMBN5's story.
>>
>>14842447
>Everyone involved with the franchise left in the PS2 era
Mega Man 9 and 10 are some of my favorite games in the series. How hard would it be to make a Mega Man 11, 12, 13... in the same way? Or a Mega Man X9, X10, X11... with SNES graphics? It can't be that expensive and I'm sure Inticreates would be willing to.

I was just listening to Act II by The Protomen, and I'm wondering if any of this is actually canon? Is all this stuff about Light's father and Emily from some semi-official comic or is it just fanfiction from the band?

Because holy shit, they make that story sound awesome. I tear up like a bitch every time I listen to The Good Doctor.

From what I can tell from Capcom's history, with the exception of the Mahvel games the devs generally get to do what they want (because Marvel are dicks about use of their license and butt in too much) and the failings of the games generally were from design decisions the creators came up with that didn't pan out.
>>
>>14842813
In fairness if your name isn't Resident Evil or Monster Hunter, you're not a Capcom franchise that sells a ton of copies.

There's a reason the #1 and #2 slots for most sold lifetime Capcom games are RE5 and RE6 respectively.
>>
>>14850759
Eh, even RE fans would feel a bit uncomfortable about 5 and 6 selling that much.

But then again all signs point to FUCKING HYPE CAPCOM KNOWS WHAT THEY'RE DOING with 7.
>>
>>14850759
Capcom is also run by absolute retards. Remember that Capcom doesn't think the west likes Phoenix wright OR monster hunter and they took a petition and Nintendo taking over ALL production, localization and marketing costs respectively

It's a shame Kamiya said he won't come back to help with REmake 2. He said he come back would help with games if they asked him to.

With one exception, RE2 remake. To him that was something he personally put himself into, and he doesn't want to taint a remake with his bias. He said he very much wants to play REmake 2, but he wants to be disconnected from its production process to see how their vision of the game differs from what his was. He wants that game to be someone else's baby, he doesn't just want to make his baby again.

Though people have made the argument that when you consider how Mikami took RE1 in a different direction with REmake, that it's worth letting Kamiya reexamine it.

>>14850768

I wouldn't, I loved RE5. Yes Sheva's AI in retarded in every sense of the word, but when you have a human friend that game is one of the legit best co-op shooters ever made.

RE6 isn't even Resident Evil anymore. Say what you want about RE5 being goofy as shit, I never felt like I wasn't like a RE game when playing it.

>>14850773

At least they're retards that mean well, they just consistently make bad management decisions, like a retarded puppy. They aren't malevolent spiteful assholes like at Konami.
>>
>>14850759
So, I guess even Street Fighter isn't cutting it for them anymore? Then again, it's not too surprising after the way they handled the launch and initial patches for V.
>>
Man I remember watching megaman.exe access/beast and forever waiting for more subs and never getting it.

Did those seasons ever get fully subbed?
>>
>>14850784

SF2 is the 3rd most sold game in their history, but it's had 20 years to sell copies.

Generally they don't expect the SF games to sell THAT amazing because they know that it doesn't have broad appeal like a lot of their other titles. That being said, SFV sold less than they projected, though its competitive playerbase at Evo was bigger than 4's ever was.
>>
>>14850780
I actually agree with Kamiya, it's more interesting for someone else to do it, otherwise you end up just making the game more or less the way you did the first time around, with the bonus of stuff that didn't clear the cutting room floor.

REmake is essentially the definitive version of RE1 as envisioned by Mikami, in that sense Kamiya is proven right about how a creator given the opportunity to revisit a past work will just output that work again.

Also I kinda take issue with 5 because of how it distances itself from the adventure game trappings of "STUCK IN A PUZZLE MANSION WITH LIMITED AMMO AND ZOMBIES STUFFED IN EVERY OTHER ROOM, TIME TO MICROMANAGE!" in favor of "k the dawn of the dead might be upon us within the next few hours let's haul ass!"

In fairness, they never would've done it if 4 wasn't such a massive success. We probably would've just gotten another RE3.
>>
>>14850768
>>14850780
RE6 gets a lot of shit and it deserves all of it. It may not feel much like a RE game, but I have to give props to the gameplay mechanics. It was the only saving grace for me. Jake going all melee-only at the end and Sherry's sweet booty was ok too
>>
>>14850795
See there's one thing I genuinely love about RE5, and its removal in 6 goes a long way towards why 6 is so bad: the limited inventory.

This actually required you and player 2 to actually think shit out. you couldn't both do everything, essentially Chris and Sheva each had to specialize in 2 specific weapons so that they could cover each other's weaknesses.
>>
>>14850799
>We probably would've just gotten another RE3.
I'm waiting for that. I loved the old gameplay. I miss the tank controls, the cinematic camera angles, having to count my shots because no ammo counter or life guage, and survival being more about avoiding enemies than blasting everything you see.
RE4 reminded me more of House Of The Dead than it did classic RE.
>>
>>14850800
6 is mechanically a very rich and rewarding third person shooter from what I've seen, and it's honestly the logical conclusion of the action horror arc of ResEvil.

I also think it has the coolest UI design attitude where everyone gets a unique UI based on what faction they're working for (or more accurately the communicator device they are using at that point). That sort of over the top detail autism is admirable.
>>
>>14850812

Yeah it's a shame the game is shit in everything else.
>>
>>14850811
>I'm waiting for that.
Really? I never was a big fan of RE3 Nemesis.
>>
>>14850811
I think Alien Isolation filled the RE3 2.0 niche, though it'd be ever so slightly more fun if there were ways to use non-flame weapons to get the alien to piss off (that aren't just pipe bombs).

The stalker enemy is one of those things 3 should've popularized in the genre. The idea of a recurring near unassailable foe that you have to pick fight or flight with is just a match made in heaven with survival horror as a genre, Isolation makes good use of it in how you either push the alien's shit in with flame weapons to buy precious moments or you just hide in a corner and hope for the best.
>>
>>14850700
That band is only Megaman related in name only and the events completely fail to align with any of the events of the games, why would you think this is canon?
>>
>>14850848
I know it doesn't match the games, I'm asking about comics and such.
>>
>>14850825
I didn't like the alien being bulletproof. Shooting the alien should have triggered a cutscene of the blood eating through to the outer hull of the station and you getting sucked out into space to decompress. They weren't actually hard to kill in the movies, even with small arms.
"It's got a wonderful defense mechanism...you don't dare kill it."
>>
>>14850868
Well that's more to do with the game basing itself primarily on the first film where the alien is an unstoppable predator that will corner you and violently rape you.

Personally I would've rather had the alien react to getting shot by flinching, jumping into a vent, and strafing the shooter to show that as an NPC it can learn from in game stimuli. As is the game is just videogamey (and I mean that in a good way) in that each damage type is suited to be used against a specific enemy type.

Acid blood game overs would be real awkward considering how trigger happy human npcs are. Still would've been a cool way to punish the player for waiting until the last minute to shoot the alien with projectiles by having the blood act as a short range damage cloud.
>>
>>14850892
That quote is from the first movie, anon. It was the big black mechanic guy that said it.

They tried cutting one of the fingers of the facehugger when it was stuck on that guy and the blood ate through the floor and kept going, "It's going to eat through the outer hull!" and they all ran down floor after floor to see if it stopped (lol space gravity). After that they didn't even try hurting the thing because they knew about the acid blood already.
>>
>>14850935
>(lol space gravity)
Weren't they on the planet with the derelict at the time, and they had to patch up their craft before returning to the Nostromo?
>>
>>14850935
Yes, but you didn't see the being killed by small arms fire until Aliens.

Plus until Aliens rolled with acid blood being part of the alien physiology in all forms, one could have assumed it was specific only to the facehugger stage as a deterrent against excising it from its host (besides the whole "you try removing me and I'll choke the host to death" reflex).

In fact the idea that the flamethrower would do anything to the alien was speculation at best, no one ever successfully lit up the alien in the first film.

Alien as a film goes out of its way to deprive the crew from invoking the "why don't we just shoot it" solution though.
>>
>>14850943
I don't remember off the top of my head, but it's not like it'd matter since the Nostromo has artificial gravity.

The Ridleyverse is a weird juxtaposition of plausible and fantastic when you stop to think about it.
>>
>>14850960
It's still canon to the series that you can kill them with a .45 (Gorman;shoots some before blowing himself and Vasquez up with the grenade) and machineguns splatter them all over the place. Also pretty sure a couple got killed with a shotgun in Resurrection.

Giving the player a DE and making the alien immune to it made no sense. For that matter, even if the alien isn't indestructible, firing a large caliber handgun inside a space station is a pretty GAME OVER thing to do to begin with.
>>
>>14835307
exactly, you didn't understand.
>>
>>14850784
It's because SFV is better than IV, but is still a snorefest to watch.

People are using V to make the transition from IV to 3s, no joke
>>
>>14851045
Again, game takes cues from Alien before it takes from Aliens, it's not a world of many killable aliens but a world of a one (at a time) asshole rapist.

And from a game design perspective the NPC infighting that ensues with the alien vs humans would completely deflate the threat of the alien if gunfire were actually lethal to it, and at the same time having more than one alien early on spoils the big plot twist of the game.

So it's a mix of honoring the "no guns" nature of Alien with the inherent nature of Sevastopol.

Theoretically you might be able to mod in some way to meet halfway and let guns hurt the alien, though the lack of a death animation creates problems for if you want to really kill them.
>>
>>14851102
It would be better if you just didn't have guns on a space station to begin with. It's kind of suicidal if you think about it.

And on top of that, you add in the fact that every time you fire a gun, the alien shows up to kill you anyway and it's really just a way to have the alien kill the npc's while you hide with your gun that you never fire because you don't want to have to waste your flame ammo to chase the damn thing away again.
>>
>>14851122
Fair enough, though there are a few caveats

>Frangible ammo is a thing
>Sevastopol, as much of a shitheap it might be, may be more of a brick shit house than you'd think a space station could be, so stray gunfire may be totally fine
>there is a non insignificant stretch of the game where you will be shooting stuff without the alien breathing down your neck
>about the only enemy type that isn't easy to go loud against is the most resilient kind (working joe) and the optimal kill strat for them is thankfully silent, for humans you have to debate between taking the shot and turning a room into you vs alien or just stealthing it all and hoping the humans don't summon the alien themselves

Anyway it adds some complexity to the game beyond just hiding from everything, and from a game design perspective that's Good Game Design (tm). It may seem a bit unrealistic and videogamey in ways but as a mechanic it works. A stalker that you can't just shoo away because you have a small arsenal of weapons in your rucksack, one that requires thinking on your feet to bypass.

>A stalker that you can't just shoo away because you have a small arsenal of weapons in your rucksack, one that requires thinking on your feet to bypass.
Making the alien vulnerable but giving you a game over for killing it would not alter that at all. It's even already the same situation if you kill important npc's (like the synth that's on your side). You stil wouldn't be able to shoo it away with your small arsenal because GAME OVER.
Making it immortal instead of acid-blood-doom is a pointless change from franchise canon, interferes with immersion for that reason, and contributes nothing to the gameplay.

Once I figured out that shooting it was totally non-productive, I continued playing the game just pretending that the reason I wasn't shooting it was the acid blood. It's a negligible change from canon, but an indefensibly pointless one since the game already fucks you for trying to shoot it anyway. They could have gotten the canon right with no change to gameplay or difficulty.
>>
>>14853213
I've only played the first game for several hours, but so far I'm enjoying it. It's kinda different from the usual megaman games, which your shots deals direct damage to the enemy. In this, your gun only shoot some kind of needles which deal low damage, after that you hold R to conduct electricity to those needles and killing enemies. Hence the name, Gun and Volt.
>>
>>14853213
Gunvolt's playstyle is a little... weird. Shots do really little damage, but lets you hit R to do the big damage to one guy, or medium damage to like 3 dudes. Holding R makes you fall slower, so... platfroming.
Gunvolt 2 lets you play as another dude, and he feels a bit different. His shots do some good damage, does more damage if he dashes into dudes, and gets airdashes that give you more airdashes if you hit dudes with it. Was a lot of fun. Gonna finish Gunvolt's campaign in gunvolt 2, then get true end or something I dunno.
>>
>>14853316
And then a human NPC shoots the alien for you and oops random game overs you have no control over.
>>
>>14855465
Why would you give npc's gus if you're not giving the player guns? Why are there guns in a pressurized space habitat with big glass windows?
>>14851173
>Frangible ammo
Is that what they have in Sevastopol? That would actually explain why it doesn't penetrate the alien's carapace when regular ammo does.
>>
>>14856800
Look at some point you have to remember this is a video game.

This is up there with asking why you don't get turned into a zombie when bitten in Resident Evil games.
