I like Getter way more, but Mazinger would probably win.

Are you kidding? Getter would run circles around Mazinger Z. The power levels between the two series are too great to say otherwise. Even if Kouji has Super Alloy Z (which I must remind you has been damaged and destroyed multiple times throughout Mazinger Z by mooks) there is no way to protect Kouji from Getter radiation. Kouji would just get cancer and die. Or they could use Getter 3 to literally just throw Mazinger Z around which would turn Kouji into paste inside of the cockpit.

They inevitably team up to fight the TRUE enemy who tried to pit them against one another in the first place. Come on, guys, you should know how this works by now.

Super Alloy Z is pretty tough but Mazinger IIRC is actually still smaller than a Mobile Suit.

Mazinger has weapons which seem more fearsome than the RX-78-2's but at the same time knowing how often many don't work against Mechanical Beasts and how beams just fuck up everything I'd say it would very much be down to piloting.

Mazinger at the very least is capable of flight but against the Gundam's jumping, or paired with the G-Armor, this again could be bested.

Depends on what series we take into account. Classic Toei would probably give the edge to Getter, since Z may be bulky, but it can't fly as well as 1, go as fast as 2, or fight from as far as 3. Kaiser vs Shin depends completely on what version of each: Shin vs Neo Shin is would go down to OVA Kaiser, but Armageddon Shin vs SRW Kaiser might be a more even match. Once you start taking Getter Emperor and Shin Zero into account, things get weird. Emperor can regenerate indefinitely and is fuckhuge, but to my knowledge Zero can warp reality and has some serious ranged firepower.

Being that I'm not a huge fan of Mazinger, I can't judge. I've seen Mazinkaizer/Shin Z and SKL while reading a tiny bit of Zero. From those I did not get the impression anything but Kaiser was a match for Shin Getter.


TTGL is a rapid-fire anime, which is why some people have problems with its character-depth. Its child Simon with a Shinji complex to Captain Harlock infused with Ryoma/Gai's spirit in all of 24 episodes.

Gurren Lagann strongly implies there are consequences from overloading on Spiral energy, which is why I fucking loved it. Its not implied to have limits, but rather the question of -how- to use it. There's obvious Getter influence there among other things in its philosophy, but the point remains Manga-wise Getter Emperor would devestate anything in TTGL, including super TTGL.

Getter Emperor literally fucking absorbs shit attacking it. Its also why I'm convinced Mazinger ain't in the ballpark, unless there's some other form I'm missing on par with GE, and Zero didn't give me that feeling. Getter energy is truly implied to be multiple things that does not need a conduit to act as Spiral power does.


Short version, its all about the energy in that universe, and Getter rays dominate spiral power.

Depends on which Getter 1 you're talking about. Manga Getter 1 is roughly the same size as Mazinger Z/RX78. Toei always gave the robots stupidly bloated sizes.
