Because she deserved it. And I don't mean that because I don't like her a la >>14830582. I like Sochie. I prefer a couple of other characters like Harry and Kihel on a purely emotional and personal level, but I like Sochie because she's the most flawed, relatable and interesting. Those flaws that make her interesting also mean that she deserved to lose though in my opinion. She reacts to her father's death by shutting down and Miashei can only convince her to get out of bed and stop grieving by using the lure of vengeance. She helps instigate a lot of the skirmishes in the early show, gives out to Guin at one point because there was an attack she wasn't part of and it annoyed her, gets a couple of allies killed on the Gallop because of her recklessness and is generally fairly hot-headed and immature. Even on a more individual level she treats Loran rather badly, regularly talking to him like a servant and ordering him about. She grew out of a lot of that behavior by the end of the show, several events, like Gavane's death granting her perspective - but that attitude and arc of growing up and becoming a better person is why I think she deserved to lose, since part of growing up is loving and losing. So she lost.
