Everything I've heard is that FF was killed by a nervous studio fucking around with it because they were afraid it was going to be another HULK.

I like the trailer. People are complaining about it being too gritty and not silly enough. The thing is, I figure that teenagers are inherently silly. So is "using martial arts to beat aliens." Even when they have super-strength and alien superweapons at their disposal, you're just not going to get away from the levity that's built into the premise (as long as you write the kids even halfway believably).

So I'm excited. It may not turn out good, necessarily, but looking at this, I think I'll enjoy it.

I'm not sitting here getting hung up over them having powers unmorphed, which people were in the last thread, or that the tone isn't campy and fun enough. I personally don't want another Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie, so I'm happy to see a fresh new take on the franchise, though I do worry about the degree they can surpass more modern cliched attempts at portraying teens in school.

One of my main hang ups about the trailer (besides the angst, un-fun-ness) is the helmets; they lack those distinguishing features of the OG ones. I mean I look at OG Jason's helm and it looks like a dinosaur. This new one looks like nothing.

Marvel does go down the drama hole a bit too much at times. It's still campy and fun true but I really do hope they go a bit deeper. And since now they are moving on to their D-list heroes I feel they can have more fun but who knows. DC issue is that their heroes really are more "heroic" I guess is the word. Marvel characters are more human with issues while DC characters tend to stand for something and are more or less unmovable in their standing. Which can work but DC needs to really embrace that and show them as heroes and not moody/"realistic" like they have been.

Not really, specially now that super hero movies are popular, so kids would think they're lame because they, understandably, dont know the difference between movie budget and tv budget( difference not even adults get). Super sentai already gets to the west in a way and so does Ultraman. Metal Heroes hasnt had an entry in decades.
