The sad fact is: Toho didn't believe in their own product. Theme, actors, transformations, enemies and OST were fucking great. And they also produced an unique show without super robots, kaijus and other common Toei elements.

Unbelievable 28 years have passed and we still don't have Cybercops 2/reboot...

This is one of the worst moments of Gundam. It straight up tanks several of those beams when even heavier armored MS like the ZZ would've had their limbs and head completely destroyed. Just look, it tanks a beam straight to the cockpit and somehow the shoulder armor and head deflect two hits. And then it actually gets damaged by the fucking armor mounted machine gun that hits the undamaged torso and hips. What the fuck?

The ReZEL has a ton of cameras. There's two on each shoulder, two at the front upper chest, and then the standard two on the head (mohawk and eyes)

I could be wrong, but there may also be two cameras on the backpack piece that folds over to cover the head in MA mode.

I always thought Cima was playing with the GP01 in this, like the other Gelgoog pilots see that something is off.

Plus the arm cannon is the same calibre as Gundam head vulcans so it would make sense that it wouldn't instantly destroy it.

It's not a beam MG. The gelgoog commander has a high-end beam rifle that can shoot quickly. Besides that there are no specs for it. Shooting quickly isn't really a unique thing anyway, suits do it even in MSG in those shots of floating armies firing away at each other. Go look at the Big Zam battle. Even fucking Balls can shoot like they're equipped with machine guns.

It always bothered me how mechas can get super buttfucked and still be able to function

That's like saying my monitor should work even if I smash half of it with a hammer, it's not possible, if even one cable is out of place the whole thing becomes useless. Shouldn't mechas become scrap junk after the first minor damage to their inside machinery?

The most basic way I can think of visualizing it is basically having the entire craft act as a circuit board, this way even if a computer system in the cockpit is damaged it still exists throughout the craft.

Mobile suits are very complex machines, like modern day machinery unless you completely decimate them they still work. Even if the engine in your average car stopped working, that doesn't mean the electronics, braking system and other parts stop working as well.
