What is the most /k/ /m/ ?

It's said that /k/ and /m/ don't mix. If that's the case then it's probably the Patlabor series for how cynical it is regarding mecha at times.

If its video games, i'll have go with Armored Core 1-3. Since the implication on how the mechas work in it is kinda practical.

On anime/manga? Maybe Patlabor, since the mechas is still somewhat the same or smaller than tanks scale-to-scale (except for quads or more). And its justify the implication of mecha as multipurpose light tanks rather than one-mech-army.

Appleseed is also really cool, but most of the mechas is no more than exos clocking at 2-3 meters, and only few colossal ones.

You niggers forgot FLAG

This trumps Votoms, Dougram and pretty much everything else in terms of realism
>>
>>14819739
yeah, FLAG was pretty neat.
The faux war documentary style was cool.
>>
>>14819739
Votoms and Dougram are objectively better shows though. FLAG is a relatively weak show once you get past the admittedly cool war reporter's camera gimmick.
>>
>>14819787
He never said anything about the show's quality, just that in terms of realism, it is superior.

>Anon, FMP goes full super robot once the lambda drivers come into play.
In the flat desert, it was a battle of tank units. That would be one of the most difficult situations for the weapon called Arm Slave.

>No matter how much High Technology crystal an AS had, it could never attain the armor and fire power of a tank. Not being able to repel tank shells, the standard level assault rifle could also not destroy the tank upfront.
26
>[Frontage Projection Area] - It was said that the area in front was what could be seen the most.
>Compared to the tank that crawled on the ground, a vertical walking AS that wiggles could be easily discovered, and easily shot. The greatest strength of an AS was its maneuverability, taking advantage of a complicated terrain to get close. It would be difficult in a desert.
>In an exchange of gunfire with a tank, it had no chance of winning.
>That was why the ally AS units made use of the dug trenches surrounding the ally base, codename “Alamo Fortress”, to accept the challenge and move from one place to another. Using freely the necessary number of anti tank missile, they moved from one trench to another using smoke screens, radar jamming, and infra red jamming.
>Though a simple tactic, there was no other way to do it.
Besides, Super Robot is really stretching it. The Belial, the machine which utilised the Lambda driver to its maximum capacity, could achieve flight and force-fields at best.
>>
>>14819894
>That would be one of the most difficult situations for the weapon called Arm Slave.
Don't a bunch of Tanks get fucking rekt by the Arbalest towards the beginning of Second raid? The show flip-flops around with AS units and how they compare to conventional weapons (3rd gens usually murderize everything except other 3rd gens and lambda driver equipped units) and while its a good watch it shouldn't be taken as gospel for realistic mecha. Patlabor is generally far more grounded and consistent when it comes to comparing mecha to conventional weaponry.

Also the Lambda driver's potential limits are those of the machine's pilot, In TSR Souske pulls off an impossible feat by successfully using a super-robot style energy punch to destroy Gate's Codarl without touching the M9D Falke that was between them.

>>14818973
I said the most faggoted for a reason, as in the people who scream HURR MECHS WILL NEVER BE FEASIBLE WEAPONS HURR every fucking chance they get.
>>
>>14821184

While I do think mechs aren't feasible with current technology, and there would be no place for them under current military doctrine, /k/'s hatred of futurism seems to be short sighted.

No one saw the role of Gun Powder, Gatling guns, airplanes, tanks, Iron clads, etc in combat either. Hell it is starting to look like 3D printed drones are going to change combat in the near future, despite the limited role they play now.

To say that a new weapon can't come along, and can't change warfare since all combat roles are already defined seems an awfully ignorant view of history.

Except for that one time the Arbalest rekt a bunch of tanks in the second raid.

Even the Gernsbacks make tanks look like fucking jokes, not even gonna mention the fact they are really good in the SRW games. And no, that is not just balancing. Shit like Godannar and Dai-Guard is weak because they are weak in the Anime.

And not even gonna mention how ARX-8 could likely take down a SupCom Loyalist with its Lambda Driver.

>>14821415

Really looking forward to TALOS getting deployed and /k/ chimping out over it.
>>
>>14821371
/k/ wanks off to drones already but i am honestly not even sure if many of them know what the fuck they're talking about sometimes, like how someone kept saying the Merkava was a shit tank in the recent 100 years of tanks thread because all the armor was at the front (What is a tank for $1000 Alex), and how somebody in the heavy object thread (both this and the tank thread were /m/ threads i might add) said that the F-35 was an F-16 with stealth added, both of which are some of the most retarded statements from anons I've personally fucking seen on 4chan (aside from one dipshit who seriously suggested we un-ban clawshrimpy) and obviously come from people who have no idea what the fuck they're talking about.
>>
>>14821464
No shit, they're just gear queers and enlisted fags.
>>
>>14821479
Indeed, they'd probably praise this fucking thing.
>>
>>14821464
Well to be fair in the most abstract sense the 35 is 16 with stealth.

But that also glosses over the part where 35 is pretty much a flying computer with an all seeing eye on the underside, that networks with others of its kind and then some.

Literally every nation except Argentina immediately rushed to acquire smokeless powder rifles after they were invented, gatling guns were immediately superseded by the recoil operated machine gun, which did gain widespread traction amongst the nations that could afford them, which is how all the players in WW1 had them in mass amounts, airplanes were immediately recognized as useful in the military, which is why among the first customers for the Wrights aircraft was the US Army, tanks weren't widespread in WW1 only because they were introduced late in the war, iron clads were fucking useless but even then the British Navy made acquiring a large number of them a priority.

That was SMOKELESS powder, that come out after everyones except half of Africans use guns as their battle standards, the gun powder and the gun itself has been in hiatus for 100 years before.

>Airplanes were immediately recognized as useful in the military

Not after centuries of experiments and death of hundreds insane scientist and retards that believe they can actually fly.
Wrights are only smart enought to bought engines with it.

>Tanks weren't widespread in WW1 only because they were introduced late in the war.

And because its so fucked up everyones think it cause more harm to its crew than enemies. Jeeze the crews can't even see each other due to engine's steams and needs to comunicate with each other by bashing pipes/crewdrivers/whatever together to create a morse code, shit's noisy man.

>Gun Powder
Originaly invented by the Chinese supposedly, who used it for fireworks. It wasn't weaponized until later by the west.

>Gatling guns
Didn't get much use in wars, though it was used in suppressing the Indians. Did later make way for real automatic fire.

>airplanes
They weren't originally used in combat, and were used for other roles like scouting, until pilot took their guns up there and started shooting at each other, and this lead to them to start putting guns on planes.

>Iron Clads
When the technology was discovered, not much was done with it on a wide scale until the battle between the Virginia and the monitor proved their viability.

Tanks is stretching it, but I'll still count it since that was a new technology created to counter trench warfare.

I chose every single one of these examples for a reason.
>>
Jin-Roh.
>>
>>14823764
>Not much was done with it.

A shit ton was done with it before hand. Ironclads were first used in the Crimean War as a way to close in to shore fortifications. The concept was proven and was becoming very fashionable in the military powers of the time (The US at this time was a backwater militarily and especially navally).

Not the anon you replied to but the point still stands new technology changes warfare and sticking with the rigid idea that we have everything we need is fucking stupid. The fucking British empire thought the same about their steam boats guns but they never would have imagined WMDs would be possible. Same with /m/. war has dramatically changed in the past 100 years who is to say it won't keep changing and that new technology will be the cause of it.

Thank you for saying smartly what I was too stupid to convey. The idea that
>We already have combat all mapped out, and there is no way a new technology can change things since there is no combat role they could play, since we already mapped out all the combat roles
is just asinine.
>>

>British Empire never imagined WMDs would be possible.
>>
>>14830451
The problem is that you're making a mistake in confusing what is essentially a new kind of truck for something radical and game changing.

>We can use legs now instead of treads/wheels/rotor/hovercraft/etc
>Okay, well, does it move faster than anything else? Does it allow more armament or armour or cargo to be carried? Does it take us less of a logistical footprint? Does it move across terrain better?
>... WE HAVE LEGS NOW!

Unless walking machines have major advantages over existing forms of locomotion, they won't be adopted by the military outside of niche areas. It would have to be a real game changer and I cannot see how it would change things radically by just being a tank/jeep/helicopter/lorry that walks.
>>
>>14831721
