In Origin, the EF catches wind that Zeon is developing a military MS and contracts AE and Tem Ray to develop one of their own.

AE completely takes over the project and craps out the guncannon on a budget. In their first battle against the zaku I they get completely slaughtered despite having superior numbers.

Probably not dude. The show is ultimately dry as fuck. I mean I really respect the attempt to make these prequel movies where you can have lots of loaded situations with built-in context, and to just do as much character shit as you possibly can and try to make THAT the focus instead of robots. Then slowly introduce more and more robots until it's back to the pacing we're used to. In theory that could be great.

In practice I just don't think the characters or their dynamics are interesting enough to carry the show, except to diehards who are just satisfied to be given that much more data about UC history.
