Always loved Getter Robo G. 3 ships, 3 different formations and love the look of all 3 formations. I would have killed for a proper toy of these when I was a kid, made my dad rent the VHS from the local mom and pop store almost weekly.

Really? Even Getter Poseidon? I think Poseidon and Neo Getter 2's original design from the manga are the absolute worst Getter designs.
My favorite combiner is a tie between Voltron/Golion and probably the shin/original hybrid designs from new Getter (it's hard picking a favorite generation of Getter). My favorite would be Black Getter but I don't remember it ever opening get into jets so I think Ryoma rebuilt that scrapped Getter 1 with the body fused together.

Yeah, I have a soft spot for Poseidon. I think I may like it better than Arrow. Might be nostalgia, but I love G. The black one does look pretty sweet though.

To each their own, personally I just find Poseidon really boring looking. I used to hate Dragon mainly due to its face, but the moustache fin has grown on me and it actually can look pretty cool at certain angles. I think Liger is an underrated Getter form though, Liger is in my opinion one of the coolest Getter 2 designs.

Getter is the only combining mecha that actually makes use of the fact that it's a combining mecha. All pilots get their chance to shine unlike others where once the mecha is combined all the pilots except the MC do nothing.

I agree, making one form so feminine just because the woman of the team pilots that form is pretty lame. Sticks out like a sore thumb.
The Lady Ninja Getter from Daikessen is much better, even as a 'lady getter' they don't look so chick-bot and non-getterish, and it works better to begin with when the entire team is themed that way instead of 1/3

Indeed it is. Just like the Zeta Gundam, there was an in-house competition to design the ZZ. That was Nagano's submission.
If Bandai and him are enemies like rumors persist, I would say this is the best evidence of such statement.

Getter Robo and Dancouga are my top favs
but I also like Zambot 3, the braves, Z mind, Gunbuster,SRX, Baldios, and ZZ gundam too

I really wished that Gunbuster had 2 combination forms over only 1. Like a noriko form (original gunbuster) and a kazumi form (some new shit)
