The movie has shit pacing and cuts scenes too short. The few minutes of that extended battle at the end dont make up for shit since it's hardly animated and mostly stills or a couple frames. The episodes had a fine ending, that left on a good place to be expanded upon (with the manga material).

But regarding animated thunderbolt as a whole I thought it looked striking, with interesting character dynamics. I dont feel that it did anything wrong (maybe could have expanded upon the budding love story between cripple and the girl but I feel like he just needed someone to care about so it wasn't that hamfisted).

Both characters were saved by a mad stroke of luck via thunderbolt.

Maybye i missed something by not reading the manga but the only things i really liked were FA gundam and the Psycho Zaku, the entire plot of that film and series just seemed to rush by at a breakneck pace, so we miss out on detailing any characters aside from Daryl and Io, and even then their characterisiation was undwewhelming and barely there, i would like to know Daryl and Io more before their duel so i could actually care about them, it would probably bring more impact to a character death if i had spent more time, all it really is an hour long add for the psycho zaku and full armour gundam kits and unlike these other adds we watch it makes itself super obvious

I liked Thunderbolt, but it is hit and miss when it comes to mobile suit designs, but when it does manage to get it right, it looks pretty cool.
