Hi /m/,

It's been a few weeks, but we're back, with more than a few updates, too. As always, if you have a mech, pilot, attack, or ability you'd like to see in the game,
feel free to suggest it!

Don't forget to try the playtest, if you haven't.

Progress since last thread:
First round of balancing complete, currently being implemented and playtested.
First draft of region map complete
1st draft of dungeon concepts complete
All suggested pilots implemented
Most suggested mecha added to roster, currently being implemented and balanced
3 new animations added, courtesy of the Sage team on /vp/
Testing new healthbars
Minigames implemented
Slots, again, courtesy of Sage.
We can implement any of these immediately, just suggest ways to mecha-fy them, or at least changes for the aesthetic. There's definitely going to be a casino.


A version of the playtest with about 130 playable Mechamon, stats, movesets and abilities implemented is next in the works, you'll be able to make teams
and fight sample trainers, and get a feel for how teambuilding works. Again, it's less of a demo and more of a playtest. It'll be a much longer version of the last playtest.

For the region map, the first name I thought of was Lactea, latin for Milky, like the milky way, or something. Ultimately the region name is up to you guys.
Route names are also up for grabs.

Otherdev and I thought up of the town names, we're feeling pretty good about them.

Mechamon is a collaborative fangame based off of Pokemon, where players command a small fleet of captured mecha throughout space.

First region map, it's a very simple route, you start at White Duke and travel clockwise from there, backtracking as necessary. More similar to Kalos or Unova, if you've played the recent pokemon games

Normal is actually relatively decent in the modern metagame, there's a few top tier grunts, and one of our 'elite four' members is a Grunt user

Looking at the survey, we'll definitely be adding an 'easy', or non nuzlocke mode, where 'fainted' mechamon can be resurrected

Normal (nuzlocke) mode will have Revives as rare items, too. In both modes, however, pilots will die if their mech is destroyed.

The big difference between MM and a normal nuzlocke is you can catch as many mecha as possible, and it's totally ok to save and reload. The difficulty is closer to Fire Emblem than FTL/roguelikes

Nothing's stopping you from ironmanning though, play as you like

The Sazabi is in, check out the roster. It evolves into the Nightengale

All the attacks are re-named, and have custom animations, some have unique effects, but most of the balancing is lifted from Pokemon.

In Mechamon, if a mech 'faints', it's destroyed along with its pilot.

Unless you save/restart often, the game quickly becomes hard. You're given a lot of ways around this, TMs (Teaches attacks) are cheaper, have infinite uses, and are available much earlier than in vanilla Pokemon. Repels are also cheaper. There's even an early legendary, for people who are having trouble.

There are certain bonuses only accessible if you recruit a pilot and keep them alive, so there's a lot to think about while you outfit your ship (or ships)

To answer your question, there are many legendaries, about as many as you'd find in a regular pokemon game.

Something like that might be hard to get assets for. As much as we would love to include every variant, gundam has a fuckton. We could make this game using only gundam mechs and still not have enough space for them all. When it comes to gundam variants, we want to include the ones that the most people know. However, we are making use of alternate colors schemes, so we could use the netix color scheme for the Alex's shiny

Huh it's a neat detail that its hand-carried weapon is a machine gun instead of a beam rifle.

I mean it makes sense when it already has arm beamguns replacing the gatlings of the Alex and a pair of wired bits packing beam cannons that it wouldn't have energy to spare for yet another beam weapon.
