I'm new to this SRW Business and I'm playing Z1, going for the SR Point for every stage (18 so far). It's becoming increasingly difficult and I'm quite scared of reaching a point when my mech and pilot stats will make numerically impossible to get those points. The problem is that I don't know what is the criteria for upgrading units, when to upgrade them and the PP distribution for the pilots (and skill buying). This is not a problem with the game, really, it happens to me with every game where you have to manually level up.

Is there a definitive path of upgrades for each unit or is the game flexible with this?

Besides, you'd have to be actively trying to get Domon to fall below 120 Will considering how accurate he is and none of the enemies with with will down show up until after Domon upgrades.

Super Robots (Zambot 3, Godsigma, Baldios, the Mazingers) = HP, EN, Armor.

Real Robots = EN, Armor.

Always upgrade the "Targeting" stat for all units.

In terms of damage, just pump up the unit's attack. You won't need to invest too much into pilot Combat Stats on a first run, unless you're giving one unit all the kills. Pick up E-Save for units that use a lot of energy on their attacks, B-Save for units that use ammo.

Aquarion has a gimmick you can read up on at akurasu. Short and simple of it is that the main pilot will inherit the best stats of his subpilots when Will/Morale gets to a certain point. You can abuse this by buying skills for the main pilot, and investing into melee on one subpilot and skill on another.

Otherwise, do what works for you. Upgrade your favorite units and always pick their routes.

Usually what you want is to upgrade weapons first on your attack units, then EN and armor for Supers and EN (you don't if the unit use more ammo than energy) and mobility for Reals.

You're in luck, SRW Z doesn't have strict requirements regarding pilot stats and upgrades. Skill points and secrets are more about careful action management and positioning, or knowing if shooting down certain enemy numbers results in reinforcements and a boss showing up or escaping.

Focus on upgrading units you use as squad leaders. Don't waste money on sidekick material, maybe give them a little bit of accuracy or HP for survivability.

What to upgrade is pretty self explanatory - armor for tanky units, dodging for dodgy units, accuracy for everyone, EN for units that have EN-heavy attacks. This is a game where you have a lot of squads on the map rather than soloing everything so try to spread upgrades around (around squad leaders as I said above) rather than focusing on only one unit.

For skills, most characters already have skills they need. Feel free to buy hit and away for your snipers if they don't have it yet, EN Save or B Save depending on what type of attacks the unit has. For non-squad leaders, buy the skill that increases damage from PLA attacks. Everything else is optional.

Like old man Sahib said, you can easily abuse Aquarion, but it's optional. My first playthrough I did without that, though the unit is much more powerful if you do it.

While I couldn't get the AI to behave as I wanted it to, I opted for simply making them more accurate and harder hitting.

I think the highest base armor any unit has (ignoring Melua shenanigans) is 1800. Mobility will probably be 135.

Master Asia has like nearly 100% hit on base Domon thanks to S Rank Land along with the universal +10 Hit that his weapons got.

Barrier tanking won't work since Darkness Finger ignores barriers. So I think I got supers tanking everything without Fortitude covered.

I don't know about you but ZZ did a great job for me, I used it to train Amuro, Quattro and Kamille with the PP multiplier, I MAPed everything to death. Dunno about Wing Zero, didn't use it too much but Deathscythe was ok. Sirbine had shit range but wasn't that fucking bad compared to Escaflowne. I agree about the Mazinger units, all of them were benched.

Wing Zero has only one good attack outside its MAPs, that being its finisher.

Some of them might still be in. Ex-S Gundam has an Awakening-style ALICE attack and then there's the EXAM (and probables HADES) system attacks.

Whether or not those attacks are actually awakening-type or just things locked to the proper pilots, who knows. Probably the latter.

Yeah they're all around the same damage tier like the original game. Dragon/Bolt got a pretty good combo attack with bonus damage on a lot of enemies.

I've actually been trying to do some research on card chronicle 'plot' mainly by trying to read the Jp wikis and watch videos uploaded to nico(found 2 playlists full or videos). It seems that there was a regular story mode that was 80 stages long and covered the first 2 sets of series that ended with the defeat of Parantiago. After the plot continued on in limited Events.

The Real protagonists split between a Male and female choice, The male is a federation pilot assigned to tryout a basic combat frame assigned to an exploration ship captained by his older brother no matter if you pick male or female you play as him for the first five stages in a mech that is primitive but fast like the Schwalbe Graze at stage five he gets separated from the main team and this is were the male female plots split.

The female real pilot is the male pilots younger sister they arn't too close but they also dont hate each other after stage five's event if you picked her she takes over when her brother seemingly dies to protect the ship, she too is a fed pilot but preferences being a ground sniper on foot and only barely learned to pilot in case her brother ended up out of action, she has a more brutal fighting style than her brother who was more graceful and pilots the auxiliary Frame.

The Super routes Male protag is a young man who is living with his crazy old scientist grandma (Who is bros with older scientist characters like Juuzo Kabuto) his parents are alive but on different sides of the current war he didnt want to pick between his parent so he went to his grandma she has him pilot the super robot GarouDaiOh to fight against the evils taking advantage of mankinds in fighting he and his Grandma also hold a secret in their blood. He is a calm type and while he believes in justice he is more likely to attempt diplomacy if possible, he is also has trouble showing his emotions and has massive anger issues when provoked.

The Female Super pilot utilizes a machine called Draco Knight and pilots to fight evil good natured and head strong she is a traditional hot-blooded for justice type but is a little too violent and tends to over do it leading to her style being much like black Getter Ryoma in moments that do not call for it this leaves her at odds with the male protag and some of the more "traditional heroes"

Looking at the "new to SRW" series in Z3-2, there's the "continuation" series (Diebuster, Votoms, FMP and Rebuild) and then there's Gargantia which is basically the only thing left that's completely new and unrelated to anything that came before in Z.

So it gave off the impression that Gargantia stole the spot of a more interesting series.

It's one of those "bad contextual timing" thing - I'm certain that if it showed up at some other point of time other than the finale of Z, it probably would be better received.

Draco Knight upgrades to Dragon Crusader this form comes after female protagonist learns to better hold her composure and be less wasteful with her attacks they still remain mostly the same but the animations are less gratuitously violent however her map attack changes to a spread-shot rapid fire magic missile attack and she gains a focus magic beam canon

Both get a combo attack that has them pinball the enemy between them until they use a cross slash to finish the enemy off

and later can Gattai their units into DracoGauroDaiOh

DracoDaiOh gives ShinnGarouDaiOh the Draco Crusader's armor and sword however its attacks are Tonfa rush, A sphere of burning Chi, A fusion of the V-max type attack and the Sword rush, MAP rapid fire chi bullets, Magic Chi beam canon, and its ultimate a high speed rush attack that ends in them splitting the Draco Crusader using its Giant canon to mix with ShinGarouDaiOh's V-max to rush it

Real Route starts with Gundam 0079, SEED, and Metal Armor Dragonar plots Male Protag is at side 7 colony Heliopolis and does basic testing for the Battle Frame Char, Le Cruset Team and Giganos forces make their move Heliopolis is lost Male Protag is forced to become commander as he is the most experienced of the pilots aside from Mu who doesn't want the responsibility

Stage 2 has them run into Gundam Virtue who is scoping out the new fed weapons and is surprised to find the RX-78 and the Strike Tieria suspects something amiss due to how they resemble the 0 gundam Zaft/Zeon/Giganos forces show up mop em up

Stage 3: Male Protag reveals he used to be a flag pilot and has a conversation with Ryu about Loum team finds Lacus Kira does his return Zaft attempts to capture the strike and are called off the real enemy for the stage ends up being Muge empire forces

Stage 4 is a simulator battle Female protag is first usable here in both routes the entire thing is training for your units you arrive at Luna II soon after

Stage 5 Zaft/Zeon/Giganos forces attack your merry band as they try to escape Luna II unlike the normal the forces are bolstered quite a bit and escape seems impossible Male protag decides to hold the line along with various other fed ships as there are two battle frames he is deemed "Expendable enough" your forces Flee and the Feds are wiped out aside from Male protag who is saved by the four Gundam Meisters intervening a plot event has him save Setsuna causing the Lockon to declare him a friendly for now Graham Aker Daryl Dodge and Howard Mason show up as well after the Stage you are given an option who to side with if you male protag if you chose the Flag fighters Graham retrieves Protag and takes him to earth if you pick Celestial Being Setsuna flat out abducts him as he has a strange feeling that he could be useful to celestial being as an ally.

Stage 1: starts in Scottland where the Protag and his Grandma finish adjustments to the Garou she wants to take it to japan to show it off to Juuzo Kabuto but she feels a test is in order she arranges to have the Garou test at the same mock battle as the AEU enact Setsuna shows up and beats the Enact Nubia and Demon Empire units show up necessitating that Exia and Garou team up

Stage 2:Starts with Grandma and Juuzo having a discussion about their individual robots Garou and Mazinger while MC talks to kouji and Shiro asking about school and general life for the Kabuto's Dr.Hell's forces show up (This is Shin Mazinger by the way) Garou and Mazinger manage to fend them off but Juuzo still passes away

Stage 3 starts with a Zonder attack and the events are the first episode of Gaogaigar after the Zonder is defeated Garou shows up just in time for Dr.Hell's forces to arrive attempting to take any remnants of the Zonder Guy and MC repel him

Stage 4 Kouji decides the best bet for fighting Dr Hell is to ally with the Photon labs who are also allied with GGG Mc and Grandma decide to ally with them as well the Demon Empire make a move again leading to Guy MC and Kouji confronting them.

Stage 5: The Demon Empire strike again Dr.Hell's forces show up attempting to forge an alliance Raideen arrives to fight them with our current heroes arriving soon after Mid way into the stage the Female super Protag arrives as a neutral ally and leaves at the stages end our heroes recruit Akira and the Raideen to help

Stage 1 reveals the Draco Knight and its pilot a fierce and hot-blooded lass who has inherited a machine from an ancient civilization powered by magic she initially mobilizes to fight Muge forces just in time for the cyber beats squad to show up she explains her place as a guardian of the earth thanks to her linage and allies with the Cyber beast force

Stage 2: Dinosaur empire attacks an island here multiple white Getter's and one Red one fight the Dinosaurs the pilot is Tatsuhito (The getter team is the manga version but there is gonna be a big mix and match of getter stuff in this case its New Getter's prologue) if you can keep the white Getter 1 alive and Tatsuhito then you can unlock the Black guy from New episode 1 and Tatsuhito as secrets

Stage 3 Ryouma Hayato and Musashi are recruited to pilot the Getter the Dinosaur empire attacks but anticipating this Dr.Saotome called in help the Cyber Beast force and MC arrive Tatsuhito also comes to your aid if you kept the other guy alive last stage he will be a sub pilot keep em alive here for the second flag in unlocking them eventually Getter 1 sorties and you push the Dinosaurs back

Stage 4 Zaft forces try to occupy Saotome labs our heroes aren't having it

Stage 5 same as male routes only Mazinger Z, Raideen, Gaogaigar, and Garou are neutral allies instead Draco pilot goes back after the fight
