here's the thing I don't get. we have the commanders of Tekkadan in those flimsy tanks. why risk your best men in those when MSs are on the rise and everyone and their mother will have one? its a great way to lose important staff.

Guts makes sense in this episode cause his gundam was being repaired in space, but the others? not that good of an idea.

You do remember from the fist season that the ahab reactors used to power MS screw with radio wave-based communication to the point it doesn't work at all. The only thing that works is LCS, which you can see being line-of-sight restricted.

As for why they don't keep commanders in MS, they're obviously too busy fighting to be effective field commanders and the field commander mobile workers do have a two seats.

They showed that everything Tekkadan/Kudelia did wasn't exactly a good thing. Tekkadan glorified child soldiers, meaning a bunch of kids want to join up and there are now more enslaved human debris than ever. Oh, and Tekkadan still has connections to what is essentially the space mafia and Orga isn't seeing things in the long term with that. Also, Atra is starting to kind of see how fucked up a person Mikazuki really is.

So there's potential here. Time will tell if they shit the bed with it or not.

We saw how disgusted Gaelio was at finding out Mikazuki had one embedded in his spinal column, it made him literally sick.

Alaya Vijnana is considered a repugnant and horrific display of trading off one's humanity for power. Gealio was forced to use it to save Ein's life at the cost of turning him into a raving lunatic so who knows what sort of highs or lows he'll stoop to if he's the guy behind the mask in this second series.

Thing to note: it can't be Ein. Ein didn't have fucking legs by the end of the show. He was a floating torso in a bubble tank filled with liquid by the end, full integrated into the Graze.

All Gundams were originally built with the AV system, so any ones without it have simply had it removed after the war to accommodate pilots without it (i.e most of them). also if they had the tech to make him robot why would they need to make him a literal Alaya Vijnana system? they couldn't save him with the worlds tech (magic bathtubs that saved Takaki's life in ep 13-14 iirc for example) so they had to connect him with life supports to a Graze.

He was the monster attacking Edmonton in the last episode which made Mika a "hero", so I doubt someone gjallarhorn would go scrape Ein out of the cockpit after being impaled. to give him legs, arms, a mask and a brand new gundam frame to go fight again. If any returning guys from S1 is getting the "god of revenge" gundam it'd have to be Gali. Or surprised its a whole new character.

The mask looks cool, but does anyone else think it looks too armored for what he's wearing? Stuff like Iron Mask's helmet works since its fairly ornate, and other Chars work because of the open face look, but this one seems a little excessive and "utilitarian" to be used on a standard Gjallarhorn uniform.

But they didn't install the Mobile Worker cockpit into it. They just installed its seat into it. Barbatos' original cockpit seat seemed to be the only thing missing from the cockpit, while its monitors, control sticks, etc were still there. They put Mika's MW cockpit seat into it which also came with that centre screen that was attached to the MW cockpit seat I think. It's the screen that shows Barbatos' start up sequence, including the Barbatos seal.

So basically, Barbatos seemed to have its AV system intact. It's just that without its cockpit seat, it probably didn't have the thing for the pilot to connect to its AV system, so they used Mika's MW cockpit seat for that and for him to sit on of course.

I don't know if all this is true for sure, but that's what I noticed from watching the anime.

I have a theory that if Vidar is Kimaris, then the rename was partially because kimaris was stabbed in the reactor at the end of S1 and it was damaged beyond repair due to it being a twin linked reactor which the tech for is supposed to have been lost. At any rate masked guy is probably just some rando who's crazy about wearing masks. The extent of Gjallarhorn's eccentricities have yet to be seen in full, it's looking like they're a lot crazier than we imagined.

On Oct 29, Toonami will be doing an IBO marathon. This is probably going to be it's defining moment for the channel. As it stands, the show has problems retaining viewers from it's lead in. It's started off around a 200k drop from DBZ Kai when the show began, then it got moved back a half hour for OPM. OPM managed to retain DBZ viewers better and have better ratings than IBO, and IBO began losing about 300k viewers from OPM. Now after the block being moved back a half hour, IBO lost around 400k viewers last weekend.

The OPM marathon had better ratings than what the block had for quite a while. That was the power of Saitama. On the other hand, IBO has become known as the show that tanks the block's ratings every week. And it's getting a marathon.

Now, rating drops after DBZ Kai are quite normal for Toonami. People watch it all the time, coming off stuff like Family guy and then leave after they got their nostalgia fix. OPM holding the ratings is a bit out of the ordinary. But for IBO, this could be the make or break moment. It's going to have a stronger lead-in from whatever is before it and then the strength of the block is entirely on IBO's shoulders. No later shows that people might still want to watch, just Mika's Magical Murder Time.

In 00 they used some kind of quantum theory based communication trough Veda, but they never explained if they had some kind of backup system on the ship when they lost Veda. In S1 the enemy factions didn't have it, but they did get it in the second season along with GN drive tech.

To be fair to IBO, it's not like it's ratings are that bad. It still has good numbers, but the problem is the drop is consistent. Lead in brings in 100k extra viewers one week, IBO sees a 100k boost. Lead in drops 200k next week, IBO loses the same. An most of those are in the important 18-49 demo, which sometimes sees a boost when IBO ends and Hunter X Hunter comes on.

The thing is IBO is being carried. First by DBZ, the OPM and in a few weeks Jojo will carry the burden. Not to mention the shows afterwards have their fans. That's why this marathon is kinda important to the show, it's going to be based on it's own strength.

If Ein is somehow alive, Crank will be at least mentioned, maybe there will be a flashback or something.
If Gaelio is somehow alive, he will probably angst over Ein quite a lot.

This being said, I don't think it's all likely to happen.

First season starts great, gets boring halfway through but then picks up in the last section of the season.

Is it the worst Gundam on hand? No. Is it the Moon Moon story arc from ZZ or Seed Destiny levels of shit? No, absolutely not.

It's just slightly above average until those spikes in drama quality near the start and end.
