It's not. It could've been had there not been such a drop in quality after the climactic battle over Earth but unfortunately the series kept on going and produced some of the least enjoyable episodes I've experienced in anime. As it stands I'd only rank it above AGE and maybe barely Seed Destiny as far as full Gundam series go.

If you want to fast-track your way through Macross, the order is DYRL, Plus movie, Zero, that shitty compilation movie that has Frontier characters watch VHS tapes of Macross 7, the Macross F movies, and that should get you caught up on everything for watching Delta.

They would have got a lot of money from licensing Macross Delta in China (the fanbase is big there) and others country from the europe and USA.
