Duftmon Leopard Mode is pretty much a lateral form change. The same applies to costume changes for Demon, Holy Angemon and Sakuyamon/ Kuzuhamon that were retconned as mode changes.

I think maybe in theory Dragon Mode has faster travel speed than Fighter but the latter is by and large a vertical evolution.

I think the first movie is good, like a 6/10 kind of good. It's just above the mark of okay and has some good stuff mixed in with slip ups. To a fan as die hard as I am and how much it pandered to me my personal rating is like an 8, but objectively I can admit it's full of fucking flaws.

Dedication was a very mixed bag but it was more bad than good. I think the ending and all developments involving Jou were phenomenal, but I hate how much Mei and fanservice we shoved down our throats. I understand it's need in the story and I'm glad it got it over with but the execution could have been a lot better and I don't blame people for disliking it.

Confession was what I wanted and then some, loved it from beginning to end with Mei finally not feeling shoehorned in and I was so glad they didn't feel the need to insert her into every fucking scene and even left the digital world without her. I legitimately stand by confession is a strong, pretty tightly executed movie and the movies are hitting their stride which makes sense given the plot is kicking in.

People seem to forget the movies are basically a season of a new anime just with a different kind of release. Plots usually pick up hard by the 8-9th episode. But with how 5-7 were so slow and kinda bad at points I don't blame people for being harsh on Tri.

It also suffered from a stultifying mini-arc structure, a too-large cast most of whom were more or less forgotten after their debut episodes, dropping most of the potential plot threads at the halfway point and spending all of one episode on them before the final ten, ditching Akari and Zen, and marginalising Nene in the last quarter to such an extent that her character arc was basically taken over by Taiki, whose overbearing predominance was one of the worst I have ever seen from a protagonist. It had some phenomenal highs but some very long and lingering lows.

Appeared twice and was part of Shoutmon evolutions but ran off at the end of each episode.

Adventure and Tamers can appeal to anyone and are great stand alone series.

I can't say for Savers because I think it's great but it really feels like a series MEANT for Digimon diehards so it might be slightly less than how high I rate it, it's probably my favorite. Still one people can just watch and enjoy without being well informed about the franchise.

Frontier is a mixed bag and it's understandable for people to dislike it. It's one I don't recommend to people on their own even though there a lot of great stuff in it.

Xros has a basic more child show kind of plot but it's still serviceable and fine. If you like a bit of a basic story but amazing animation and great mecha fights its a good watch. I rate it higher than Frontier.

Young Hunters and 02 are terrible garbage for different reasons but neither are worth watching.

Frontier has good first half but drag out in the second because 2 of the main cast completely stole the show.

Yeah, the story really fell apart. I like the idea of redesigning it. Every series with a new gimmick in the past has been tied down by the old designs which make them stick out so much, like Frontier and Xros Wars.
