For how strange Eva piloting seems to be, I'd say he gets the job done. Asuka would seem to be better, what with the Eva Series battle, but then again, she just seems to know how to do cool moves, and cant keep her cool in a fight worth shit. She just kept doing dumb shit against the Eva Series, and only pulled through because her mom got real for five minutes. Shinji showed more strategical thinking when he managed to get Zeruel out of the Geofront than she did in most of her fights.

Your 'position' or 'standing' plays a huge part of your personal worth in any company or government structure, but this can either be due to your birth status or who you got to back you, aka your family background or your hard work getting a backbacker.
