lien 3 is still pretty good as a horror movie, and in a technical sense. Especially since David Fincher managed to turn the most troubled production this side of Apocalypse Now into something watchable. Even Cameron praises it on the technical merits.

But it's still a huge kick in the balls, and that makes it hard to watch.

People still try to tell a fourth movie with Ron Perlman exists, but I haven't come across and conclusive proof it does.

So this is the VOTOMS thread? I wasn't thinking I would enjoy it as much as I would, but after the first 12 Woodo arc episodes. the Kummen arc just made me fall in love and now I'm burning through the OVAs.

Roots of Ambition and Shining Heresy are my most liked so far, The Last Red Shoulder and Mellowlink were alright.

Going through the Palisen Files, I actually don't mind the 3D on the ATs that much surprisingly, it's good so far. inb4 blogpost

One last question, is it true a /m/ fag translated Shining Heresy? If so, that guy is based.

I liked Shining Heresy too, it is probably one the most well done Votoms OVA, and there some scenes that are simply so incredible that I rewatch frequently.

The only problem is that it was not necessary; the end of the original series is good and we could have stayed only with OVAs dealing with Chirico past, or OVAs exploring other characters in the same universe, like Mellowink.

I feel like Shining Heresy could have been the best thing in the franchise but Takahashi fell out with Sunrise and it ended prematurely. What's there is still great but I can't help but wonder what could have been.

Pailsen Files is fucking underrated. Sure the 3D doesn't look great but the plot is A-grade stuff with really great characters.

Pretty much the only Votoms related thing I've not liked so far has been Phantom Arc, I thought it felt like a lazy nostalgia grab with a plot that doesn't make a great deal of sense.

I'd love for either someone at Sunrise or maybe even Takahashi himself to return to do something else with Votoms. Ideally it'd be something that didn't have anything to do with Chirico, I think his story is done, and both Mellowlink and Case Irvine showed that you don't need him to tell an interesting story in that universe. I'd love to know more about the war between Gilgamesh and Balarant, for instance.
