Alright, so after the latest episode and the toy catalogs, I think I've completely figured out how Ex-Aid's transformations work.

There are 3 slots on the Gamer Driver- the 2 on the buckle, and the Kimezawa Slot (finisher slot).

The first slot, closest to the center of the buckle, is the main form slot- the Gashat put in that slot decides the main Rider Form. (Examples: Action Gamer/Mighty Action X/Ex-Aid, RPG Gamer/Tadoru Quest/Brave). The second slot is for the Extra Gashats, like Shakariki Sports and Gekitotsu Robots, and forms the Level 3 armor for any Rider that equips them. The Kimezawa Slot utilizes both the Rider Gashats and the Extra Gashats for finisher moves, but also is capable of utilizing the Extra Gashats to make the helper robots and items, like the Shakariki Sports bike, and the Gekitotsu Robots helper monkey.

See it's funny because they start you out thinking Kouta is a coward and Micchy is the real hero, only for their personalities to go completely cockeyed as they have access to more power and influence. Micchy goes off the fucking deep end and assumes his older brother's elitism with none of his self-awareness or self-sacrifice. And that lesson Kouta learns about the real stakes of their actions stays with him and he winds up being willing to pay those stakes to end it for good.

Kouta remains denser than a fucking chunk of lead during the show, but his motives do shift over time as new information about the conflict, the source of all the Rider belts, and character motives come to light. Kept seeing references to it in anime with those masks and stuff, eventually tried out an episode or two of Black after going through a Tatsunoko phase earlier this year (the common link being transforming/cyborg fighting against evil in the name of justice ala the first (and best) Tekkaman, Gatchaman and Casshan).

I enjoyed it but didn't really get into it, however earlier at the start of summer I watched the Saint Onii-san movie, and in it Jesus has a blog where he writes about dramas. There were a bunch of Kamen Rider Fourze mentions here and there, with Jesus even buying some figures to review. After that I decided to really get into it, and started with W in July which really drew me in. I then watched OOOs and Amazons, and now I'm on Fourze.
So there's no real nostalgic factor involved with Rider for me yet, seeing as I only got into it properly max ~2 months ago.

Just finished OOO. What a ride (pun fully intended).

I was gonna watch W next but with Ex-Aid coming up I might give it a pass for now.
