I'm starting to look into how to make a few bullshit google drive accounts. If this works the way I think it will the end result will be a synchtube that you can just download the files from.
Looks like I'll need six of them or so, that'll give 90gigs which should handle the new sub set and any extra crap like the movies that I've got.

I thought there were less untranslated chapters between the end of the American volumes and the first online translated chapters, but there are still quite a lot - and there are the chapters released after the official translation stopped again.

Many of the chapters are half length though...

So, the new character in the last few chapters of the manga is actually... the human form of the hummingbird lines from the Nazca desert - while the manga's version of "Nazca" is the incarnation of the Condor lines.

I don't think the reason behind her disguise looking like that older woman has been explained yet though, but Fuyuki wonders about it so there's probably an answer either in this chapter or in the next few ones.

The way synchtube sites like cytube or taima tv work is different than the usual video stream that goes (live video feed off a computer)->(video stream site)->(viewer).
Like the name implies, they synchronize youtube type videos.
So every browser looking at the channel gets told "load this one youtube video and set it to 5:58" and then a couple of seconds later it tells it "make sure you're at 6:00" and then "load this other youtube video" and then a couple of seconds later it tells it "make sure you're at 0:02"
They usually work with DM and other video sites too.
In cytube's case this can also be done with videos uploaded to Google Drives, which is why these double as download links for the series.

This allows there to be a 24/7 stream of Keroro without a whole lot of effort.

I didn't think about it while writing the translation, but I ended up missing a small joke at the end of Giroro's profile.

I think they all are references, but it's hard to recognize what the animators were using as a design model for them when the overall shape of some ends up looking fairly generic and they're mixing unrelated sources.

The ship above the Musai with its "long" design looks like it could be from Yamato or LotGH, but that specific booster placement (alongside those small wings) doesn't really match any of the ships I've checked from those series. I'm pretty sure if I were watching a random show now and saw it I could recognize it, but remembering it by the small details shown there (two thrusters, two small thins on top) seems almost impossible.

It kind of resembles a Salamis, but the thruster placement doesn't match and seems more square/rectangular than it should. Also, if there's any theme in those ships, it seems like they're all enemy ships, like Empire and Zeon.

It could carry 24 minutes if they actually adapt the plot, with the Cellurian invasion and such, but I guess the teaser would have been very different if this were going to be an action series. The announced cast also suggests no plot adaptation (no VA announced for the main character, and alongside the main girls and the park guide they jumped straight to the penguin band from a recent event, which is completely unrelated to the main story chapters).

Yup, they all split off from Japan all over the world. It seems to be either in Africa or (Southern?) Europe, narrowing it down. Don't think there's anything like that notable in the east coast of America or near (if one of the KBs are even going there), narrowing down the locations from pic related.

Keroro got pretty overt in its KR jokes, like the time they used the Faiz belts, the time Zeroro used Black's henshin, I'm pretty sure Keroro dressed up as Ambassador Hell more than once, and the Shocker logo showed up sometimes.
But the charm of a background gag like showing up on a newspaper's cool, like old UY stuff.

I wish there was more info on who exactly animated what in the show to know one way or the other. I'd have to decipher names from credits and such.

But it was Sunrise's Studio 6 that worked on it. Before the Keroro anime, they were on The Big O season 2. During the show, a group of staffers from there split and formed Studio Bridge, who assisted with various episodes and some of the movies. Right after the original anime ended, Tiger and Bunny started airing, which was also done by Studio 6.

It's probably reasonable to assume there was at least some staff holdover between those shows.

I've actually also seen that come up more than often in anime in general, and even some toku, where mostly (or only) just the girls go crazy over baked sweets. One example at the front of my mind is that one Sailor Moon episode where everyone went to some confectionery, and Usagi (and Esmeraude) were scarfing down the offered food in there like mad. Everyone else in the place were also females.

So yeah, no idea here either.

Doremi tended to be crunchy from the encoding process and was hardsubbed too, though, so it's not much of a difference between the two choices.

I like to think of it as room for future improvements by (somebody other than me) taking good raws and attaching these subs to them.

I checked there, but it's not as comprehensive as you think, both the mega folder and the torrent. It has a decent chunk, but not everything (as in, up to 256)

I'm watching through the last few episodes of the 6th season right now that they finally have subs - near the ending of the season, there were way too many melancholic nostalgic stories right beside each other. What was up with that? Usually they'd be a nice change of pace, but here they seemed to kind of forget that this is supposed to be a comedy.

The one comedic short in the middle of these last few stories (about Keroro shooting a movie) was rehash of several previous stories too.

So, just finished episode 307 - I was wondering if it'd have the standard tv preview or the late night tv preview shown after what used to be a Keroro rerun timeslot, since there were actually two different full previews recorded for that episode due to the show being split in half during its last year.

And there was just no preview at all. That was kind of odd - I expected them to throw in the special preview that originally aired alongside the late night rerun block, but I guess there might have been some issue? I wonder if this is how the DVDs handled it too?

I sort of agree about the video quality, as the later Doremi subbed eps, at least, are sharper than the Viewster rips. The episodes past (most) of what they've done is still 90% literally at 144p/240p youtube level, though, and, yeah, that's not even getting into the actual subs.

Also, while flipping through random manga volumes, there's a picture of a toddler Mois watching Keroro trying to bat a baseball at the end of the last chapter in volume 14. Yoshizaki probably doesn't think too much about inconsistencies like that, either.

Actually, checking some saved images and episodes, it seems like they stop featuring Earth stuff in flashbacks to their childhood starting from the 3rd season. There are still parodies, but they don't show actual Gunpla or mention Earth goods. For example, the model they generally show child Keroro playing with is this not-Atlanger, rather than Gunpla.

I guess that was around the point where they started making actual "Chibi-Kero" stories and so started taking Keroro's childhood setting a bit more seriously. Still weird that it took them two years to realize that issue though.

That's the thing with episodic series (particularly adaptations); writers don't need to worry so much about the big picture, so they tend to write anything regardless of whether it's internally consistent with the setting/backstory or not. Just ask Star Trek fans.

This ep with the gunpla girl asking Keroro out was cute. They really did seem like soulmates even if after Episode Things happen, it turns out she just wanted someone talk about the hobby and to build with, though the semi-bittersweet ending implied that she was just trying to front at that moment and probably did have real feelings for him.

tl;dr everyone says their goodbyes and comes back to their own dimension instead of the copied one where the events of the last couple of chapters took place, Hummingbird goes back to assuming her human form as that professor woman, and the hunt for the next Keroron Ball is teased to be on Easter Island. Doesn't seem like they're taking Fuyuki this time, though.

Considering how this story will go on for at least 2 years if every arc is as long as this one, I guess they want some standalone between the arcs (Although, of course, that will just make it take even longer to end).
