3.0 is a completely incoherent mess. I watched it with a group of friends over Skype, and the general consensus up until an hour into it was "What the actual fuck?" I mean it, they don't explain anything.

It seems to be intentional, that they want the viewer to be as lost and confused as Shinji is, but that's not how you make a good movie.
