"Nu Gundam wa date ja nai!" is there in the Japanese, too. I'm not sure exactly how it became such a famous line, but it's used in basically any video game where Nu Gundam appears and Amuro is voiced.

I guess it's a little funnier in the dub, because of the Nu/New homophone, but it was a thing since before there was a dub.

You know what I loved about CCA's action?
In that it makes the viewer know that he's an Ace Pilot, but doesn't make him completely invincible.

Like we see him completely blow out Gyunei by tricking him with something like dropping his weapons, showing how much more experienced Amuro is, but when he's up against Gyunei AND Quess, it's not so easy to take care of the both of them.

No, it was the true successor to the RX-78 and specifically designed for Amuro's usage.

It's basically a recognition that the basic idea/frame of the RX-78 was fundamentally solid. This is in direct response to stuff in the Z/ZZ era becoming increasingly expensive and complicated.

It's highly likely that the Feds saw how well the unit preformed and it's the reason why they started moving away from transformable suits.

To be fair, that's more the fault of Musou games in general giving each character only ONE line to repeat ad infinitum for every instance of a particular situation.

In some of the regular DW games, if you defeat a large number of enemy officers in a short period of time, your character will literally repeat their 'enemy officer defeated' line for a good 30 seconds or so.

Well, the thing was, the core of the Nu Gundam - the Gundam frame - was basically a solid machine. Amuro just wanted something with no-frills that was better than the mass-produced suit he was using at the start of the movie.

The loadout was almost incidental. The Nu was just the Gundam of it's generation. If he'd time, he'd have made the Hi-Nu and it would have raped everything forever.

I just find it funny that in the interest of leveling the playing field with Amuro in the hopes of having a real fight, things became hilariously one-sided against Char once the Nu Gundam was completed and had the Psychoframe added. It probably would have been far more even if Amuro stuck with the Re-GZ, or at least managed to upgrade to the Re-GZ Custom.

Of course, without the Nu Gundam, we wouldn't have had the Axis Shock, and Char would have won regardless of whether or not Amuro were to beat him in their final fight with just the Re-GZ.

What do you mean simple normal parts? It was a unique one-off unit that Amuro custom ordered from Anaheim Electronics. The MP Nu was canned for being too expensive.

The Re-GZ was rejected for not being the kind of transforming machine they wanted (it has to be put together in a hangar and once the BWS is ejected it cannot be redocked). Also, the flawed transformation meant that the mobile suit mode's weapons can't be used, so they had to put some weapons on the BWS addon unit itself which meant the entire system as a whole was also too expensive.

The ReZEL isn't that expensive. They did mass produce that, although like the Jegan at first priority was given to the special units in the EFSF.

The Fin Funnels on the Nu couldn't re-dock and recharge, once they're detached they're detached. The Hi-Nu allowed them to re-dock and recharge. Also the Hi-Nu had some added armaments, the machine gun (probably larger than the 60 mm vulcans in the head) in the right arm and the shield features its own low power beam gun. Furthermore the Hi-Nu's thrusters were improved over the Nu's, which was already pushing the envelope in terms of early UC thrust output.

The Nu Gundam's shield already has a beam gun in it. I don't doubt that the Hi-Nu has improved thrusters, but the Nu itself wasn't "pushing the envelope" for thrust. There's stuff from Zeta and ZZ that have more thrust and better thrust to weight ratio.
