ITT: Anime projects that were announced but nothing much ever came of them
Pic is from the Mahoroba film which would have seen an updated Danguard Ace along with many other crossovers from Leiji's works. Interesting since he never seemed too fond of mecha.

A Sexaroid anime was announced in 2014. Seems to be in development hell.
>>14710424
A remake of an anime filmed entitled 'Legend of Marine Snow' was announced in like 2013 with a website. The site is no longer up so the project is presumably dead.
>>14710431
>>14710435
Another project is pic related, it got a pachinko game and was supposed to be getting anime anime. Still waiting.
>>14710437
Then there's the Dai Mazinger OVA. Not sure if this is an actual image or a fake, though.
>>14710450
It's legit IIRC. This was before they ended up losing the rights or something and they had to change the name and concept. I'm sure some anon can elaborate further.
GaoGaiGar Project Z. a sequel to Gaogaigar Final also being a direct crossover with Betterman.
>>14710530
I think it somehow spawned Dangaiou or something...which was ironically taken from a work Ishikawa did with Hirano featuring no mecha.
Also, before the Iczer OVA was made another series from Lemon People was to be adapted. You can read more about it here: https://aaltomies.wordpress.com/2014/12/07/%E6%92%83%E6%AE%BA%E5%AE%87%E5%AE%99%E6%8B%B3-gekisatsu-uchuuken-lp/
Although it might be too soon to declare it dead yet, things aren't looking too good for that new J9 series, Jinraiger, actually coming out.
>>14710610
I seem to remember Dangaioh coming before it, even though the other way would make sense.
>>14710712
Dai Mazinger was supposed to come out sometime after Iczer One, the scan specifically mentions it.
>>14710776
To elaborate this more, DaiMazinger was in pre-production in 1986. Whatever was planned for it was ultimately put into Dangaioh in different form. It should be noted that Dangaioh has the exactly same main staff as what DaiMazinger's pre-production had.

So all these Leiji stuff just keep getting canned?
I am really sad.
>>14710844
There's apparently going to be a sequel to the CGI Harlock movie but I could care less about that. Maybe they'll eventually find some sponsors.
>>14710404
Never;_;
>>14711088
It even had a Yamato crossover. Makes me wonder if that caused any issues with the recent Yamato remake.
>>14711095
There was also a novel called Galaxy Express Ultimate Journey hyping up to it.
>>14711095
It's all part of the Leiji Matsumoto universe and he has always done everything like if it were a single "universal century" that connecting each story, although in different times. So it seems unlikely. The reason must have been another.
A pity anyways, this project was only a movie after all.
>>14711102
Well he had a few previous attempts like this that never got finished due to legal reasons.
>>14711088
D-Guard as a surprise unit in SRW V. Make this happen Tarada.
The trailer for Zero Desigze pachinko game has a pretty sweet looking mecha.

The concept of telling a story with a pachinko game is kind of baffling to me. Who knows how much you'd have to spend just to see the full story. That and trying to hear the audio in a room filled with noise.
>>14710607
And thank fucking god for that. The last thing we needed was that shitstain Mamoru getting his own show.
Ashura Nahata, a failed kickstarter for a Pacific Rim inspired anime.
>>14711317
>>14711317
Even had a line of stickers and shit.
>>14711130
[muffled ZAWA in the distance]
>>14710617
First Crinn, now this. Why does everything related to J9 have to disappear.
>>14711148
Hey buddy, piss off.
>>14710883
Too bad cause that movie is absolute trash.
>>14710437
That has to be fake as fuck, that things head is just the EX-S Gundam with two GN drives slapped on the sides.
>>14710431
>Mysterious Woman
Isn't that everything Leiji?
>>14710617
Ehhh, it's too early to call it dead.
The selection of a studio (Pierrot) and announcement that production started was only made last December.
For a series with 30+ episodes drafted during pre-production (they post synopsis on their site), 9 months would be an incredibly short turnaround.
Torkaiser ;--;
>>14711655
(loud sahib noises in the distance)
>>14710883
I'll watch it for Miime
>>14711667
>あいい・えるまお
>>14711684
implying it's a bad thing
>>14711317
I would have loved to see those designs in action.
There was that one new Brave series concept that had two protagonists; one looking like Tai from Digimon, and one blonde or brown-haired female.
I can't find the image on me though, but I know two scans of it were posted but nothing came to pass. Probably ended up as a panchinko animation or nothing at all.
No, one episode was NOT enough.
>>14710404
Wasn't there another Yamato film that had an upgraded Danguard Ace style mecha in it a few years back?
>>14711717
I thought the robot in the middle was Godannar in the thumbnail.
>>14711645
>The selection of a studio (Pierrot)
GOD FUCKING DAMNIT NO.
>>14711645
>Pierrot
I doubt they would spend a minute of their precious time for this, when they think it would be better spent over-extending a manga that's clearly over.
>>14711408
Is that you Shrimpy? No you didn't get your wanna be pedo self insert with his own show.
Get over it. Or blame yourself. This is likely divine punishment for being such a failure.
>>14711458
It's real.
>>14711838
No idea. Could have been Yamato Zero Gou but I have no idea if that had a mecha in it or not.
Kihei Senki LEGACIES
Announced, never happened.
>>14711736
AGREED
>>14713309
There was also Sengoku Gyoujin Dullahan that was announced around the same time that also never happened, though anichart still has it as TBA despite having removed Legacies long ago.
>>14710404
>but nothing much ever came of them
Project is dead, anon.
Mentioned in this book
>>14713556
Source?
>>14710607
Only thing we got from that was the damn toy
>>14711148
>And thank fucking god for that. The last thing we needed was that shitstain Mamoru getting his own show.
Shitstain Mamoru already had his own show. It was called Gaogaigar and it was fantastic.
the Brave show that never went past concept stage: Brave of Light Photogrizer
>>14715117
>Gun
Who thought that was a good idea?
>>14715136
that's a real mystery
