By manipulating true Zeon nationalist who refused to stand down, he waged a campaign of terrorism across Australia to appease the ghost of Quess, he ends up appearing to him before he is executed and calmly explains she felt literally nothing for him. Even worse to this is the fact Hathaways actions led to Kenneth Slegs defection and aiding of the Mars Zeon and Crossbone Vanguard factions in the future.

The Hathaway in Hathaway Flash did not kill Chan. He killed Quess, and the trauma from that act is what pretty much spurs him through the rest of his life.

This is actually why I think it's funny whenever people talk about how they want to see Hathaway's Flash get animated just to see Hathaway get executed because it's not even the same person.

While you are absolutely correct on the note of the Hathaway from the Novels and CCA being two diffrent people, generally his actions into Hathaways Flash still could easily end up happening. Granted Hathaways Flash is as non-canon as series like Crossbone and Sentinel, so much of the information provided here in the long run does not really provide much for the established canon, just more or less speculations.

Also given how Hathaway was acting in the Novel and the depictions in games, it's obvious the guilt was more so the inability to save her as opposed to him killing her, or at least thats the case with the translations from SD gundam G generation F and G generation Spirits.
