All the bad memories are washing away and we only remember what we like. When you don't watch it weekly, most of these shows (IBO included) aren't nearly as bad. AGE is still kiddie shit that has a pretty crap story, but it's tolerable because you already know about the bad parts and you can just focus on things like mecha design or battles or semen demons. You don't have to be invested because it no longer points to the future of the franchise.

In short: it's not less shit, people just care less so they cut it more slack.

It has a good first half and a decent if less impressive second half, which makes it one of the best Gundams in the last twenty-plus years. Almost every other show has at least one crippling flaw that's far worse than anything in 00, with only Build Fighters escaping with a better reputation.

It's sandwiched directly between Destiny and AGE, which makes 00 look even better by comparison because those are the two worst shows ever to bear the Gundam name. They also both contain much, much worse Zeta clones than 00S2 ever was.

Why do only a few lists have build fighters which is god tier, it brings mecha down to its core the awesome waifus, and toys that we want to make, they even give us super relatable characters who share all our favorite things like building gunpla, the only thing it did wrong was have them use them to fight, when they should sit neatly on shelves and be carefully dusted.

IBO is shit? Are people feeling this way because it's the current gundam? It wasn't a piece of art but it wasn't terrible either.

IBO is the first gundam in a long ass time that I actually watched from week to week. The story was engaging enough and the mech designs were pretty cool. The ending was a little weak but its going to get another season so we'll eventually get a real conclusion.

Personally I couldn't even watch IBO. At around episode 12 I just couldn't do it anymore, each episode bored me to tears. The characters weren't engaging, I didn't like the mecha designs despite loving the idea behind them, and the fights were few and boring.

I think it's bad, honestly. It started out great but then lost what made those early episodes so good. Character development is patchy and clumsy. Mika is poorly developed in particular. That white-haired antagonist bitch who's name I forget was weird too, first they set out to make her seem comical, then brutal, and then sympathetic. Multi-faceted characters are fine, but wild lurching is hard to adjust too. In a way I think it's a case of too many characters, not enough time. Anyone outside the 5-6 main characters should be a redshirt IMO, but that's just me.

Many plotlines are bland and sometimes nonsensical (like how the train to the capital got through - why didn't they just blow the tracks? frodo.jpg). The colony rebellion felt like watching a bar brawl in a highway motel bar you just stopped off in on your way to Santiago.

It's also corny. Not in a good old-fashioned Gundam way, strident and up-front. In IBO it's corny in a slick, modern, slimy way. Orga's speech in the last arc, and Kudelia's reaction, had me facepalming. The mood music grates on me - soft acoustic guitars for the meaningful parts, trumpety bullshit at other times. Even when the show is running a decent plot and interesting scenes, this shit manages to make it at least a bit unpleasant.

I'd like to say that some of that is probably hype backlash since back in the VHS fansub days everyone who mentioned anything about Zeta fellated it as the best thing to happen to 2D before it was widely available here, but after watching it again several years later I like it even less than before.

Gundam 00 is arguably one of the best entry point in the series because
