I think it got the chance to be a concentrated project between two established series, by younger directors who grew up with MSG. Most of their work was cut out for them since the manga, but they didn't have the elbow room to piss around on characterization via slow exposure, and could spent most of their time on a single thriller style pace.

You stupid fuck, Gundam 0083 was one if not the highest budget Gundam project ever up until the early nineties. The only thing that can compare in quality animation to this day are some parts of Gundam Unicorn or that new jazzy 15 minutes piece Gundam webseries.

I can never quite put my finger on why Stardust Memory is so fucking rubbish.
It looks great, which actually makes how shit it is even more of a shame.

Dont bother. Groupthink in /m/ demands that all well written Gundam main characters conform to the angsty, autistic, hateful and vengeful teenager model. Some may even say that Char is a well written character.

In all fairness, 0083 is about as well written as CCA, F91, Ms 8th team or Unicorn. I happen to like 0083, the character models are gorgeous was well as the mecha. It was a real highpoint in the Gundam franchise.

Some references and inside jokes here and there are funny but trying even within a single continuity to string all the series/ovas/ spinoffs and whatnot into a coherent whole is senseless and doomed strategy. One can enjoy (at least I do) single spinoffs episodes without going postal because Char, or his cousin, or the third cousin of Amuro was not in it. Who gives a shit ? The story of Char and Amuro ended in CCA. That is it. The fandom (and Bandai/Sunrise) should fucking get over it once and for all.

What pains me the most is even in alternate continuities like the CE or AD we need to have a fucking Char clone because ? I don't fucking know.

I actively hate Kou, Nina, Gato, and Bernard.

Their actions throughout the show are pretty bullshit.

I like Kou- Kou seems like he would post on /m/. He loves mobile suits, especially gundams, and is nervous around thin, attractive women like Nina. His confidence level is all over the place, he literally hates himself when he screws up, but piloting a MS gives him confidence. He is /m/ incarnate.

I think some people hate Kou because he hits too close to home. They see Kou acting like a turbovirgin as a reflection of themselves, and they see how pathetic they are when they see Kou being pathetic. An MC that is a New Type isnt as relatable to Gundam fans
