It's probably more that a ton of early mobile suits in Cosmic Era are total bricks when it comes to in-atmo combat.

Look at the Strike, it's practically welded to the Aile pack due to the gains in mobility it provides.

Also, wtf is this? Gundam wiki is telling me its the concept for Blitz, but that's clearly a fucking Raftclans! Akutsu and Okawara were in charge with the design right? Was Yanase Takayuki also involved in SEED?!

The Strike using mostly the Aile Striker is also probably due to Aile being a rather balanced loadout as opposed to Sword or Launcher which are more situational.

Why not? They were chasing the Archangel for damn near half the series and the four redcoats spent most of it getting walled by the Strike in direct battle. Most of it is Kira's SEED, but they couldn't have known that.

Makes no sense to refit the Blitz for other purposes anyways, it's already specialized as shit with stealth that saps power from PS Armor completely, they might as well make it more specialized for back-stabbing actions.
